Keji Muto is pushing 40, and his knees have been trashed from years of abuse. How much longer do you think he's going to wrestle? He's talking about getting an artificial joint for crying out loud!
He made a funny comment yesterday when he saw his x-ray. He said his knee didn't look like a knee it looked like a stick. I give him three more years then they have to force him to quit at gunpoint.
I think he should retire while he's ahead...well not ahead, but you know what I mean, and not pull a Ric Flair and go til he's 53 and keep saying he has one good run left for goodness sakes don't let him do that...

Without question he should retire, but he won't. fact of the matter is he probably won't be able to walk without the assistance of a cane or something along those lines when he in his 50's or the later part of his life. However, even with that he will continue at least until mid 2003. He needs surgery now, but will face Bob Sapp on 11/17 and will most likely go against Goldberg in Jan.
He reallys needs to retire but in a way I hate to see him go.
He's been a favorite of mine for some time now and whenever I started watching Puroresu I got to see him in action as Muto instead of Muta and in his prime he was excellent in my opinion.

No he will not retire anytime soon. Mutoh craves the money, the power and the spotlight too much. He is much like Inoki. Plus look at KObashi, if any one is overdue for the easy chair it is him, yet he still pushes himself.
Maybe it is just me, however, a lot of people were saying the same thing ten years ago about Terry Funk and he still semi-active. With as much money as there is out there, I have a real hard time seeing Muto just walking away from the industry.
People are like stars: there are bright ones and then there are dim ones.
Hey no fair! You beat me to the Terry Funk reference I was going to make lol. I agree, Mutoh probably isnt going anywhere as long as he is able to get in the ring. Maybe he will only make special appearances or wrestle a very limited schedule at some point, but I have a feeling he will wrestle (at least occasionaly) through 2005 and beyond. Even on bad wheels he can work circles around many in the profession today, and honestly who really goes out 'on top' in this business? Wrestling is more addictive than heroin to a worker that loves the business. Its in their blood. People have sacrificed their health, marriages and their very lives for the sport of kings. Its been that way since the begining of time and will continue to be that way untill the final curtain drops on our society.
Many wrestlers stay around much longer than they should...new more risky moves wear a body down as they lead to more injuries. Keiji Mutoh is neither as fast or as mobile as he once was. I would rather remember what was than see a beat-down shell. The fact is all the highrisk crap that is now called wrestling is going to make the length of a career drop faster than Enron stock. I say a Farewell Tour and a Retirement Night.
Having an active wrestler in charge of what goes on. I don't care if it is Mutoh or if is is any other wrestler. The old saying fits here.."Power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely". I confess I would push me if I had the stroke, just as the true wrestlers would/do. The secret comes from having that seperation.
