    Mutoh to scrap Triple Crown?

There are reports from various sources (usually reliable) that Keiji Mutoh wants to abandon the Triple Crown and introduce new titles. This, to me, is amost blasphemous, even moreso then when Fuyuki got rid of the FMW Brass Knuckles titles; Mutoh canot be allowed to do this.

I supose it really depends on how Mutoh plans to run the company. If he plans big changes, then it may be best for him to retire the Triple Crown, as it pertains to the old AJPW, and let the new titles represent the Mutoh era. If he's doing it just to do it, then it's just a stupid thing to do.

This is terrible that he would even consider this. Titles have to have a history they have to have a lineage if they dont they are just fancy belts with names, he cant be allowed to retite the Triple Crown

I think it would be completely stupid for Mutoh to scrap to Triple Crown Heavyweight title. Like many of you said before, the lineage and history and prestigue of that championship is unmatched in japan. Back in 1990-97 I would have said the IWGP title was more meaningful, but it's not. To drop the AJPW Triple Crown title would not be a smart move. And as for a post I read a couple of days ago... There would be nothing wrong with Goldberg as champion. I understand when people say h has not paid his dues in Japan, but nowadays people (promoters) don't care too much about dues, they care about a box-office draw. And like him or hate him, he is a box-office draw.

    BLASPHEMY INDEED!
Mutoh is a mad dog and he needs to get locked up for eternity. Motoko Baba also needs to get locked up for several days for letting this guy run the company!

But if it really is to happen, then the last champion better be Toshiaki Kawada, where he stiffs Mutoh to no end. And after that, the 3 titles better be put in the Japanese national treasury/museum.

I thought it was bad enough when the WWE scrapped the Intercontinental title and that just a secondary title that had been around for like 23 years(although now it does give the World Title some history)

But this is worse I think a few months back the Triple Crown was voted the most prestigeous title in the world by the members of these message boards, you just cant destroy something like that. And really 3 titles is better than one, so why would you scrap the Triple Crown for some AJPW World title

I think that it is a mistake. I understand that a new president would want to forge ahead, but to replace something with a full and rich history like the Triple Crown would be like denying that history. The Triple Crown carries a mystique with it, a mystique that comes from the names of those who held it before. It would be like replacing the Stanley Cup with a new trophy. It wouldn't be the same...

Some times major things must change. Perhaps the triple crown will be in a musem down the road.

That sounds like a bad idea...any new belt would need to be established as being worth something, which takes time...who would they use to establish a new belt? Goldberg? Would they revive the "streak"? In my mind, that could only be a bad thing...
