    Wrestle-1

Sundays show looks like the biggest disaster in All Japan History.

Goldberg isnt coming and too many non-workers trying to work a show that should be a high end performance.

Lots of unproven shooters trying to take All Japan to the next level.
I wish Giant Baba was my Grandpa, then id have a reason to feel so ANGRY......

To the next level? Of what another bad version of UWF?

Muto preached about tradtion to win tha AJPW fans over since he was an outsider now the guy thinks he is Inoki (trust me 1 Inoki is too many). Does he see how well shoot style is faring in New Japan?

Do not get me wrong, I know and work with shooters as a hobby but intergrating it with All Japan, especially with the current climate in Japan is a bad move. This show is going to do more harm than good.

    Wrestle 1

Combine Inoki's shooter obsession with Vince's in-ring product style and you got the makings of the worst load of crap i ever heard of.

It makes me want to be sick.

I can see why Muta booked it that way in order to keep Sapp strong and to give himself options for the January show but 6 minutes does seem a little short for a match with the triple crown champion jobbing. Perhaps that's all he could get out of Sapp. I'll wait until I see the tape to make my mind up though who knows they may have had a **** match in those six minutes Muta can go when he wants to.

I'm not entirely sure that the match was only scheduled for 6 minutes. I wouldn't rule out the possibility, but Sapp doesn't have the world's best stamina. It could have been that Sapp was blowing up and Mutoh just wanted to save the match before it got really horrible.

I'm personally going to wait until I actually see the show before I comment on it. I'm curious to see the Sappettes(did they have some kind of name? I saw a picture of them and it made me think of the Flash Funk gimmick immediately).

    I watched Wrestle 1 Tonight

I got the tape today, and just watched it a little bit ago...

It is a interesting show, but it reminds me more of the Spetember AAA PPV than a WWF show.

It looked more like a Broadway show than a wrestling show--in that with all the choreography and spectacular entrance [and you haven't seen anything until you see Bob Sapp dancing to the ring with his grrl to Madonna] it looks like a big stage play.

It did seem that the crowd was having a good time and was into everything--more like they were playing along with the show though.

The matches themselves I dont want to judge since I only watched it once--and kind of rushed through some of them--but I did think the Sapp/Muto match was interesting. Whoever books Sapp's matches is certainly paying attention. Its like every time he wrestles he adds in a new move [this time a top rope splash] and spends more time jumping up and down to distract the crowd that he isnt really doing anything.

He is big and does seem to have charisma, but he doesnt seem like someone who would last long. It certainly seems like Ishii and the other promoters will get what they can out of him, and then move on...
