    Question Goldberg

I was curious as to how many matches Goldberg has had so far in All Japan? how were they as far as work rates go?

I understand he has actually learned how to wrestle some since his return to the ring?

Is this accurate or is he still Green as ever like his WCW Days?
Have you heard? There's a new revolution, gotta spread the word, too much confusion.

I think Goldberg has only wrestled three times in Japan: once at Wrestle-1 and the first two matches at the end of August.

I haven't seen Wrestle-1, but I did see the two matches against Kojima and Kea. There wasn't a lot of wrestling involved... they were more like "squash" matches. Goldberg just over-powered his opponents. It's really difficult to gauge how much his "wrestling skill" has improved when the match doesn't last more than 4 minutes. But I will say this: the Goldberg matches weren't the best, but they weren't the worst matches of the cards (that dubious distinction goes to the matches with Kronik and Barton/Steele).

PS - in the interview after the 2nd match, he said that he will be back when he's 100%, and he'll "bring the real Goldberg"... ???
Maybe he should give the money back for bringing the fake Goldberg? Could All Japan sue?

Just in case you didn't know Goldberg signed for 7 matches over 13 months so we have four to go unless he decides to stay at home and send the "real Goldberg" in his place. I'm thinking Norman Smiley in a muscle suit.

Well, Goldberg is supposedly going to be working the next Wrestle-1 show at the Tokyo Dome with Hogan, so I guess that means they've only got 3 dates left for him. Boy, he's sure been worth the money.

I believe the comment about bringing the "real Goldberg" is that the "real Goldberg" doesn't work with who he considers to be mid card guys, because they are below him. Example: In a recent interview Goldberg said one of the obstacles to him signing with the WWE is that there aren't enough people on his level to work with. He could work with Triple H, Scott Steiner, Shawn Michaels and maybe, with emphasis on the word maybe, Kurt Angle. He said flat out that he is too good to work with "mid card guys like Brock Lesnar, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho and Booker T." I got news for you Goldberg, Jericho's antics on you back in 98 was the only entertaining thing you were ever even slightly involved in, because your matches sure don't cut it. The point of this is that the "real Goldberg" is obviously far too good to work with "mid card guys" like Kojima and Kea, so the fake Goldberg grudingly agreed to squash them.

And thank *** for that, we don't need even more injuries among the upper midcard. Goldberg has a history of injuring other wrestlers, not to mention the strain on the backs of his opponents from carrying him so much.

Very good point. When you consider the carry job DDP did back in October 98 it's amazing his neck held up as long as it did.

And when you bring up his history of injuring people, would it really be so bad if he put HBK and HHH back on the shelf? Then when he tries to do it to Angle he can throw off Goldberg, grab the mic, tell him he's not working him anymore, get a nice close up of the holy **** look on Goldberg's face and we can all enjoy Angle stretching Goldberg for the better part of an hour. That would be my match of the year, hands down.

Yeah, and he could actually step over and lock the ankle lock in! That bothers me every time, and I'd love to see him debut Angle Lock II on Goldberg.

Angle injuring Goldberg (or anyone injuring Goldberg for that matter of fact) would be great!!! Goldberg is terrible, has an ego the sizo of China, and so on and so forth. I would like to see Goldberg injure HHH though, and Rikishi, Vince Mcmahon, ect. though before someone good (like Angle) injures him though.

My mama raised me to never say anything about someone if i didnt have anything nice to say. With that type of motto, I wouldnt have anything at all to say about Goldberg. That being said, I was always the rebellious type and never really listend to much mama said so i'll say this: The day Goldberg never steps in the ring again will be a great day in history. Talk about a worthless p.o.s. in the ring. For this GREEN USPSTART to put himself over the midcarders that MADE HIM makes me sick. He is the biggest mark in the business and the only way I would ever book him is to loose against those guys he won't step in the ring with because they are all more talented than he. The Guerros, Benoit, Malenko, Jericho, Matt Borne, Barry Horowitz, The Brooklyn Brawler, and Gillberg should all go over Bill Goldberg. I wish he would have a casket match against someone and it turn into a shoot. That would make my millenium. Oh yeah, sorry mom

First and foremost, I do not wish any harm on any wrestler, even if I don't like them.

Now, before Goldberg signed with All Japan, there were mumblings about him going to Pride, K-1, or another shoot-fighting company. Now, I would have liked him going there instead of any wrestling organization, NOT because I wish him harm, but because of the political damage he could bring with him. Kea and Kojima were the future stars of All Japan, and Goldberg destroyed them both in less than 8 minutes; what does that say about the future of your company? After he walks all over the wrestlers in AJ (AND takes the Triple Crown... shudder) and returns to the US to get into the WWE and begins losing to HHH, what does that say to the world about the quality of opposition he faced in AJ? Now, if he fought in a shoot-fighting environment, the backstage politics go out the window when the fighters get into the ring. If he wins, then he deserves it. If he loses, then he probably deserves it, too.

I think Mutoh made a mistake hiring Goldberg, going for the short-time benefit of ticket sales and not taking into account the long-term damage his matches would bring.

    Let's just be honest...

Goldberg talentwise is somewhere between curtain jerker and mid-carder. Ego-wise he is the second coming. Frankly my 8 year old would have to carry him in a match. Sad to say, but Hulk Hogan looks like Jack Brisco compared to Goldberg. But the fact is certain wrestlers are given that level at which they can pretty much write their own tickets. The aforementioned Hogan and Goldberg are joined by the likes of The Rock, HHH, Shaun Michaels to name a few. It has little to nothing to do with talent and all to do with marketibility.

Bill Goldberg isn't fit in the ring to lick Chris Benoit's boots. But he has created such a marketing machine around him he gets what he wants. What was it Booker T used to say... "Don't hate the player, hate the game".

I thought I heard the WWE is trying to get Goldberg for WM....I hope that doesnt happen, the show is gonna be bad enough w/ the Triple H squash, Austin stroking his Ego, and Hogan Vs McMahon...ok *sigh* Ill take my comments back to the Everything Else board
