The News boards are reporting that AJPW is low on funds and could possibly go out of bussiness. Do you think New Japan would allow Muto and company back in NJPW. And do you feel if there is a way to save the company.
Yes New Japan would welcome Mutoh back. It would creat Inoki's dream of an interpro fued, respark (maybe) the NJPW attendence. Will AJPW go out of business. Hard to speculate on my end. If I read the lines right I do not see it happening.
Was Mutoh a spy? I do not see that, as Hase was the one that got Mutoh his power and Hase and Inoki aren't exactly exchanging Christmas cards.
I've been offline for awhile, its great to be back!
I just want to say that All Japan is the greatest pro wrestling company in history, and I hope things get better. The last of the 'traditional' wrestling companies must survive! I know that many will cringe when I say this, but maybe having the Triple Crown defended at a Super Show in the U.S. will bring some revenue in. Have a proven U.S. draw challenge for the Triple Crown in a place like Las Vegas, and have the undercard full of both AJ workers U.S. workers that casual fans will recognize. With the right Advertising as a ppv event it would most definetly out draw the UFC. Maybe feature Hogan's retirement match on the card. Despite what the internet says, there are enough Hogan marks out there to make a difference lol. The greatest in Japan could face guys that have been around a while, like Bam Bam Bigelow, Big Vito, Scott Hall (that Americans will recognize) and possibly even guys like Sting or Luger. (I'm not the biggeest Luger fan, but his name is very recognizable.) That that into consideration along with the fact that it would be Goldbergs (another guy I don't care for in the ring, but once again a mark's dream come true) first U.S. appearance in quite some time. There are also alot of great workers like A.J. Styles, Chris Daniels, Ron Killings ect. that would put on a great show against the greatest from the puroresu world. I'm sure this will never happen, and it would be a logistical nightmare, but it would be a dream come true and could very well make a little money as an annual show.
As much as I'd hate to say this but unless Muta was the champ going in this wouldn't draw a dime. There just isn't enough people in the states here that follow the Japanese side of things.
Old School you are om the nose with the Mutoh comment. But American PPV is not the answer IMO. THe first thing is to regain the AJPW loyalist whom have stuck with the product and are discouraged by the lack of Baba method in the ring and presentation. Once you regain your lost loyalist you aim for creating new fans through what has gotten you this far. Ther is no question that workrate and clean athletism made this company from the 90's untiil 2000. But what it needs is new blood that can be given time to become the next elite workers in the business. Mutoh will be aroud forever as discussed in another thread, Tenryu however may not. But there is enough undercard talent to hold the proverbial fort down until the next generation is ready to claim their role.
Who knows what is going to happen. But as stated already, would it not make more sense to bring Americans who could seel tickets. Tental and Amimal?? Come on.
Also, cut out the Wrestle-1 nonsense. Let New Japan do that and stick to wrestling and they should be O.K.
Aslo, pay for the foreigners to fly business class.
And lastly of course New Japan takes back Mutoh
