I have a few questions for those who know about Terry Gordy in All Japan. I've only seen his match with Misawa, and various clips of him destroying guys with Doc as the Miracle Violence connection. I'm a huge fan from what little I have seen. My questions(S) are-
What moves did Terry Gordy use in All Japan? What did he not use?
From the match with Misawa I saw that he used-
A hell of a lot of elbows and forearms
Piledriver
DDT
Superplex
Crucifix Pin thingy
Powerbomb pin (His finisher?)
lariat
running corner lariat
release German suplex
rear chinlock
Armlock, forget which
sleeper
I also saw him use a snap powerbomb on one of the clips.
Did Gordy ever use the Iron spike in All Japan?
What about the chokeslam. I have my doubts he used this in All Japan, but in every video game I have seen him in he always has it. Did he actually use this in AJ?
Wow, that's a handful of a question u got there! Anyways, he was a great wrestler/worker, but he never did any "new age" moves, like Kobashi and Misawa did in All Japan. His move list mainly consisted of powerbombs, piledrivers and such. His finisher was a powerbomb (not in a pin, just a powerbomb). And dude, what is this "Iron Spike" u mentioned??
You love me, you love me not, but you definately respect me!!!!
I believe that the Iron Spike is a spike piledriver, and also that was his big move in the USA.
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
The Iron Spike was a HORRIBLE finisher he did in WWF as the Executioner, during his lame feud with the Undertaker. It was a choke hold where he drove his thumb into the opponants neck. I think it was meant to be another Mandible Claw-type move, since Gordy was teaming with Mankind at the time. It looked very weak and unconvincing.
Anyway, he never did it in Japan.
I have seen the face of Satan, and his name is Bill Apter.
Yeah Terry picked up that wack Iron Spike finisher from Brian Adias while in WCCW. Mick Foley convinced him to try it in his short lived WWF stint and as they say the rest is forgetable history. As great as Gordy was as a singles wrestler he'll always be remembered best for his days in the Fabulous Freebirds one of the greatest Tag Teams of all time
P.S. I dont include Buddy Roberts in the Freebirds, Hayes and Gordy were the bomb, Roberts just blew chunks.
