Ka Shin will finally defend the junior heavyweight title this 7/19, when Hashimoto also defends the Triple Crown. This time his opponent is young Ryuji Hijikata.
However, Picksi also says Ka Shin will participate in Michinoku's World Masked Man league for this year, against the likes of Sasuke and his masked guys. The winner gets a shot at Dick Togo (who can't participate since he competes maskless) and his Northeastern junior heavyweight title.
So what then? Do you think Hijikata has a chance of winning? Say Ka Shin leaves the title in All-Japan, goes over to Michinoku (I can tell Sasuke will give him a high rate of wins, given his status as a holder of IWGP and PWF belts), possibly wins the tourney and then defeats Togo? Or Ka Shin defeats Hijikata, goes on to Michinoku and unifies the belts? Or something else?
Hijikata is a great prospect and while I rate Ka Shin, his time as head of the junior division has sucked. The Juniors need a change to spice the division up and branching out to outsiders either from Michinoku, Torymon or foreigners form the indy's and ROH can only add depth and some continuity. Anyone see the depressing similarities between All Japan's Junior division and Smackdown's Cruiserweights?
