I'm new to Japanese wrestling and I have some NJPW videos but I thought I should get some AJPW too. What videos do you think I should get? I'm going to order from highspots.com but I can't decide what to get. Maybe something with some American people I know but if it's just great wrestling then that would do fine.
If I were you I'd start with buying the history of the Triple Crown as there were so many great matches between Kobashi, Kawada, Misawa, Hansen and others...
but he's right, that would be a good starting point.
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
Exactly right, get the history of the Triple Crown. Match of the decade is on that one. Tsuruta vs. Tenryu. Also you should get, Keiji Muto, Triple Crown championship.
You should get some matches from '93-'96 featuring Misawa, Kawada and Kobashi. Don't get the new stuff as it sucks. Just get anything from '84-'96 and you'll be fine.
Start off with the Tsuruta/Tenryu '89 matches, since they're a prerequisite to the greates match ever (Misawa/Kawada 6/3/94) Then, get as many TV blocks a you can fom 1990-1996. Also be sure to pick up the New Year's Giant Series '97 tape, since it has the best Misawa/Kobashi match on it, and the Summer Action Series '98 tape, since it has the last really great AJ match, Kawada/Kobashi.
All of these sites are GREAT places to get all of the above stuff at for really cheap:
I haven't finished the set of the History of the Triple Crown Championship yet, but I got tired of seeing the same 5 or 6 people fight for the titles. No disrespect to any of the wrestlers.
