When it was discovered that Inoki was funding some of his out side business ventures with profits that New Japan was making. Many of the undercard talent got upset. Sayama was one of them. And there was an instance were Inoki missed a tour, yet they still sold out the majority of their shows without him. Of course this upset the other wrestlers even more. Because they realized that they were drawing the crowds too. Including Tiger Mask.
If you notice towards the end of Sayama's run as Tiger Mask, he changed his costume to wearing red karate pants. Didn't this have something to do with the Tiger Mask's copywright? Later he began calling himself Super Tiger too.
Another thing I want to bring up about the original Tiger Mask. Was the kind of impact he had on wrestling even for his short time on top. In Mexico he is still considered on of their top 100 stars of all time! That is incredible for a guy who did not spend a lot of time in Mexico. But his style changed wrestling.
When UWF brought him in to their promotion. Sayama even asked his rival Dynamite Kid to move with him. Knowing that Dyno could actually shoot. He felt it would be good for business. But Dynamite didn't think it would last, so he turned him down.
But Satoru Sayama was easily the most well known Tiger Mask. As everyone that has followed have not made the impact that Sayama did. Misawa did not really get over until he un-masked and finally beat Jumbo Tsruta!
