Speed Partners purchased 100% of the stock of All Japan Pro Wrestling, and will be forming two separate companies to handle both the wrestling and merchandising end.

Speed Systems was a sponsor for New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Tokyo Dome shows in the past. They’re a company that do corporate restructuring of brands and buy companies that are in need of bankruptcy and other similar situations.

Their plan is to catch up to NJPW in one year. They had stated that they was more attracted to AJPW’s intense wrestling, which coincides with Suwama’s recent remarks about the current NJPW product, calling it a ballet dance.

They’re also interested in safety and will be upgrading its setup outside of the ring.

I’m not clear on their stance towards freelancers, but it seems they have no interest in outsiders at all, so if a contract cannot be reached by March, then they will have to find work elsewhere. This coincides with them isolating the company in April to solely focus on AJPW.

The oddest tidbit is they want Shuji Kondo to convert to a heavyweight. They mean business too. Apparently, they also warned KENSO (Kenzo Suzuki) that if he doesn’t change his wrestling style, they would fire him.

They also plan to host a show in the Tokyo Dome in three years. If that happens, it would be the first Tokyo Dome show since January 28, 2001.

They've also have been in serious negotiations with national tv networks TBS, and yes, NTV.

Keiji Mutoh and Masayuki Uchida will stay around as leaders of the actual wrestling, while Speed Systems President Nobuo Shiraishi will have final say over what is produced. ]]>

As reported everywhere, Ric Flair, who was scheduled to wrestle on 2013/01/26 at Ohta Ward Gym teaming with Mutoh to face Tatsumi Fujinami and Seiya Sanada, canceled the match due to health reason right before the show started.

However, according to Tokyo Sports Newspaper on 2013/01/28, Keiji Mutoh said that Flair simply forgot his costume in his hotel room. Mutoh was really upset and regrets that he made a deal with Flair.

The recent incident brought another big change to All Japan.

Legenday referee Kyohei Wada, who had been refereeing for the promotion since 1974, held a press conference on 2011/06/21 to announce his departure from the company he worked for almost 40 years.

In fact, he was already released as a company executive back in 2009/4, and since 2010/4, he had been working for All Japan as a freelancer.

He answers to the interview by Tokyo Sports regarding the incident, and the promotion didn't like it.

He received a phone call from All Japan president Keiji Mutoh on 6/6, who asked him, "Kyohei-san, you know what this whole thing means, right?"

Wada responded, "You can make a public apology. That should be it."

Mutoh then said, "that's not the point! I will resign tomorrow, so please leave after (6/19 card at) Ryogoku!"

Wada's press conference to announce his departure was held at a hotel (but not at All Japan office). There hasn't been any announced made by the promotion as of now. ]]>

Nobukazu Hirai, aka Super Hate, was taken to the hospital and had an open-head surgery following his match against KENSO on 2011/5/29 after he complained from vomiting and collapsed backstage in the interview area.

Prior to the match, TARU assaulted Hirai to a bloody mess in the dressing room. As of 6/2, Hirai has not regained the consciousness although he is now able to breath by himself. Most likely, TARU will be suspended from All Japan indefinitely.

I'm wishing Hirai a speedy recovery. My thoughts and prayers to his friends and family. ]]>

Was the blond one Tyler Mane who was Big Sky in WCW and later has had a pretty good film career in Hollywood with one of his best known roles as Sabretooth in the X-Men movie?
Also how many tours did they do?
I think I've only seen two of their matches, one against Andre and Baba and the other against Johnny Ace and Masanobu Fuchi. They were both in the '90 or '91 World's Strongest Tag League weren't they? ]]>
