He works full time for Zero-One, and has also come over the states for a few independant dates. If the next one didn't come already he's working for Ring of Honor in the near future. He recently resurfaced in All Japan as well as Ohtani's tag team partner as part of the giant cooperation conspiracy theory.
Tanaka was recently on a tour of the U.S. appearing with the PWF (Premier Wrestling Federation) in Pennsylvania, UPW (Ultimate Pro Wrestling) in California and ROH (Ring of Honor) also in Pennsylvania...

I had the pleasure of witnessing Tanaka wrestle here in America when he and Shinjiro Otani soundly defeated Steve Corino and C.W. anderson for the PWF World Tag Team Titles. Both showed no mercy, but at the same time they showed evrybody why Pro Wrestling Zero ONe is the best Japanese Wrestling promotion alive. Shinya Hashimoto has to be proud of them. But the best thing I've seen besides this was the singles match they had when they were in the round robin tournament that Zero One was holding at that time. Both put their heart and soul into the match with Tanaka coming out the winner! That proves that Japanese wrestling is important in today's business.
Could somebody please explain where, when and why Masato Tanaka got those nasty scars? He has them in every match that I have seen so it must be some old thingie.
Each of those scars came from doing insane garbage spots during his FMW days. You'll be hard pressed to find someone who knows the exact details of every scar, but most came from the cheap military grade barb wire FMW used at the time(that rubber tipped stuff is just too expensive you see). One of the Tokyopop DVDs actually has the match where one of the larger scars on his chest was made.

Yeah, I think its the "King of the Deathmatch" one with Cactus Jack on the cover. He was in a match teamed with Hayabusa vs. Funk and Mr. Pogo. Pogo actually used a sickle and a machete-looking knife on his back! Of course, he also has them because he's the baddest man in garbage wrestling!
