FMW Tape Library - Who owns it?

Does anybody know who owns the FMW tape library?

I know TOKYOPOP releases the American DVDs, and that FMW went bankrupt and it's owner commited suicide. So who owns the video archive of FMW now?

    Thanks.

Heh, I don't mean "Who owns all the FMW dvds in their personal tape library?"

I mean what comapny/individual owns the rights to the FMW archive footage?

Much like Vince McMahon now owns the library rights from WCW, AWA and ECW.

I know FMW went bankrupt, so that might mean like ECWs library it could be tied up in the legal paperwork. Or maybe Onita or Fuyuki bought it?

    Anybody know?

When did he get the rights for AWA? I knew he was trying but was having a hard time to make Verne Gagne to go with the deal.

Actually Gagne sold the library to Comedy Central about a year or two ago and Mcmahon about the same time he got ECW's he bought AWA's library form Comedy Central. I heard around the same time that he was trying to get the Stampede Wrestling Library from Stu Hart. but no luck on that one.

That's wrong. Verne never sold anything to Comedy Central. That was a rumor which was debunked. As far as is OFFICIALLY known (and of record as of November 2002) he still is or was the owner of the AWA library.

However, the recent AWA footage showing up on WWEFwhatever programming (and especially the fact that the Rockers vs. Rose & Somers tag match most recently aired on AWA Classics PPV will be on the upcoming WWEFetc Shawn Michaels DVD) is causing speculation (including from me) that Verne finally made a deal with Vinnie.

So long from the Sunshine State!

Jus passed along what I yhad read. I never said it was 100% true. If e could get Vernes library he would have everyting. On a side note who owns the Crocket tape library. not sure what he has or had in it but I would think Vince has whatever he owned when he sold to turner in 88.

Yup. Everything in the JCP library went to Turner and on to Vinnie.

Not much if anything from the other territories. Nobody was thinking about tapes then. Watts' stuff wasn't part of the deal, it all went to his now ex-wife Ene in their divorce. Mike Graham still has Florida.

Off The Top Rope has a good selection of tapes but not close to every FMW tape. They only sell the commercial releases as far as I can tell. (so they can re-sell them as COOP's) Good selection but not even close to every FMW show ever.

Personally I have 80 Japanese FMW (WEW/WMF) tapes and 13 of the 14 Tokyopop US releases.

But getting back to Catus' question....

.....does anybody know who owns the archive footage of FMW?

I'm not sure, but I believe it was confiscated by some creditors that he owed money to(and I don't mean the Yakuza). But if anyone knows, please correct me.

I'd always assume that kanemura would own the library.

Why Kanemura? I dunno about his backstage stuff in FMW, so why do you think he would own it? I'm in the dark about a good amount of FMW's politics so I'd appreciate it if you'd elaborate more on that, Josh_Grimes.
