Fuyuki has a cancer, retires this month. (2002/04/09)

After the 2002/04/09 card at Kourakuen Hall, Kohdoh Fuyuki announced that he had a colon cancer and will have a retirement match on the 14th at Differ Ariake.
His match against Atsushi Ohnita on 2002/05/05 at Kawasaki Stadium won't take place. NOAH president Mitsuharu Misawa visited the locker room and offered
a tag team match Misawa & Yoshinari Ogawa vs. Tamon Honda & Masao Inoue for the Kawasaki card.

He will be in the hospital on 16th and will have a surgery on the 18th.

Well,it depends on the context of your question,...

...as Fuyuki was goin to start up his WEW(World Entertainment Wrestling) promotion, which was FMW during Fuyuki's "sports entertainment" run with the company. From what I've read,Fuyuki will still PROMOTE,just not wrestle.

On the other hand, Atsushi Onita is restarting ***FMW***,so either way, regardless of which era of FMW you liked, both willl be available...for how long either or both stay in business,is a whole different story.

I really disliked the way Fuyuki booked(ruined) FMW,as he did away the Jr Hvywt division, got rid of all the older titles(Independant and Brass Knuckles) and belts and replaced them with his new WEW titles and belts(wich looked like REALLY cheap toys),always put himself over and aways held at least one title or another(WEW Singles,Tag ot Six Man)...oh,and not to mention he did away with the womens division. He could NEVER be the draw that Megumi Kudoh was!

But despite all this,I would NEVER wish this on anyone because of bad booking, bad wrestling,or even running a promotion into the ground.I wonder if he has a family. If the cancer is as advanced as I have read elseware...he may be in a great deal of physical pain and may or may not have much time left. I wish him the best...whatever that may be.

    Unhappy o my ***...

i have to admit, i wasn't much of a fan of Fuyuki's or the way he ran a wrestling league, but this is sad news to my ears. Fuyuki is a pretty big name in Japan, so I'm sure there are a lot more people a lot more affected by this than I am, but I still feel like crying about it. Hayabusa may be partially paralyzed, but his life isn't in danger. Hiromichi Fuyuki may die from this. Colon cancer is one of the less treatable ones isn't it? wow, this is pretty upsetting.

Well, I just hope he's ok. I'm curious....if Onita DOES revive FMW then will he bring the big *** Brass Knuckles title back? I loved that belt it looked awesome!! Imagine someone (in this era of sports entertainment) getting nailed with that!
