this may be a very stupid question for those who are very knowledgeable on puroresu, but for an inquisitive beginner, what happened to Big Japan Wrestling? do they still exist? and if so, why is there no forum for them?
"Here comes Art Jimmerson, a boxing person..."
- Bill Wallace, UFC 1
"Look at my pen, Stephen Quadros! It's blue!"
- Bas Rutten, Pride GP 2000
But I'm not telling you anything you don't already know...
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
And yes, Big Japan Pro Wrestling still exists, but it appears to be in trouble. At a big stadium show lately, they drew a crowd of only 50 (?) where they used to pull in around 1000. Some think that the Death Match format of wrestling has become stale, others think it's because they haven't changed their top stars in a little while and need to bring new blood in. I don't know the whole story myself.....

yeah they have a whole bunch of problems. in the wifebeater shoot interview(i bought it just for the idea of a beater interview) he talked about some of the problems big japan has.
You have samples who has an ego many times his meager talents thinking that he is the booker when all he did was make travel arangements for the american talents that the bookers wanted to bring in.
Also the guy who owns big japan kojika(probably butcherd that name) has conections to the mob and woude disapere for several days during a tour keaping the talents from being paid for days
also the talents you have comeing over are not the greatest a lot of shows are being main evented by mad man pondo who is far from a great deathmatch wrestler

i did not mean for this to be yet another rehash of the bjw/czw arguement
I was just trying to say how with big japan only pulling crowds in the 50s that they have more problems than a need for new blood or any of the other quick fix solutions
though i do agree with you that the deathmatch format has gotten stale hence the fact that right now the 2 most recognised hardcore feds in america iwa-ms and czw have seriously cut down on deathmatches outside their respective deathmatch tournaments and set-up shows
on a side note last saturday june 28th trent acid the man who czw claims is the big japan jr heavyweight champ defeted homicide who big japan recognises as their jr heavyweight champ on a ring of honor show in the main event to bring the series to a tie at one win apiece as homicide defeated trent on a czw event back in may

Sorry if my intention was mis-interpreted..... I was only trying to provide you with Mike Samples' viewpoint of the story to compliment Wifebeater's viewpoint. I'm pretty sure we will never really know the truth to the whole story, just parts of the story from different sides..... if there is an impartial viewpoint, we haven't heard from him/her yet.
As for Kojika being "connected", well..... I've heard and read that a lot of companies and wrestlers have such "connections" (Mr. Arai of FMW, Tiger Jeet Singh are the two that leap to mind). I wouldn't be surprised if there were "connections" in the big companies like New Japan.
Bringing new blood in (such as promoting younger talent) is something I see as a first step in recovery, not a quick fix. What you say about CZW and IWA Mid-South cutting back on the deathmatches for special occasions is like a good idea..... by making the matches rare again, it makes them special again.

I hope they don't go out of business. There the only death match promotion that i can watch since im not able to watch IWA-Mid South and CZW because i live in Florida. But maybe if they made death matches more rare and brought in new talent maybe then they'll be able to bring in more fan's when they hold there event's in the future..
