    most shocking moment

What's one of the most shocking deathmatch spots you've ever seen? When did you take a look at the two bloody guys on the screen and think that maybe this has gone a bit too far? I'm going to need a little time to think about this one for one definitive moment, but off the top of my head, I'm going with Cactus Jack/Sabu's "bottle incident" match. Not a deathmatch, per say, but a great ECW (i think) hardcore match. Fitst, Sabu goes for a moonsault to the outside, only to have Jack move and Sabu land on his ribs on the guardrail, breaking them. Then, to even things up, Cactus gives Sabu a glass soda bottle to bash over Cactus' head. Sabu launches the bottle with a sickening thud about five or six times, and it wont break over Cactus' head....just repeated blunt head trauma. Finally, it broke, but not after making Cactus' head nice and lumpy. Either that, or the one where Sabu and Terry Funk got so badly entangled in barbed wire that they had to stop the match to seperate them with wire snips. I'm sure I'll think of worse...anyine else got one?

Please keep the topic specific to Japanese scene. Otherwise, this thread will be moved to you-know-where.

    Thanks.

    most shocking moment

In Big Japan, when Shadow WX lights his shirt on fire and splashes Mike Samples... Shadow WX rolls out of the ring after the splash and tries to get the short but can't and it just keeps on burning...

I have on a tape (somewhere) clips of tag match between Nakamaki and Ono against the Headhunters. It's one where Nakamaki is sandwiched between two barbed wire boards and one of the Headhunters moonsaults onto him. Anyway, earlier in the match, one of the Headhunters is standing outside the ring and blood is pouring a river down his face. I saw a video clip of the infamous "Mass Transit" incident and this one looks worse.

    ----------

Addition to post: I was thinking about it, and I'd like to add a match from Puerto Rico. "Raging Bull" Manny Fernandez does a knee drop from the top rope onto one of the Invaders, and the Invader sits up and begins to vomit up blood. "Bull" responds by landing another knee drop before wrestlers from the back come in and take the Invader away (I think it was #3).

I have that match on another tape. I sat down and watched it again, and frankly, I didn't think that it was shocking at all. Kind of lame is what I thought, especially when Matsunaga ties Zandig to his car and drags him... about 2 yards. BUT, the Gorilla Press Slam off the trailer onto the flaming tables was very impressive. I've always enjoyed Kasai's matches.

i supose if i watch it again it will probably see it for the chesey stunt that it probably was. I guess it was just the fact that it caught me by suprise the first time i watched it.

i also agree with the kasai love he was always one of my favorites

Matsunaga vs Pogo FMW. Pogo hits Matsunaga with a torch and lights his leg on fire, then stabs him in the eye with his sythe. Or Hayabusa´s neck breaking. That was awful.

No Edgehead, I mean the REAL Grocery Store Deathmatch. In the mid 90s Big Japan took a bunch of their guys to grocery store and had a "deathmatch" there. It's a deathmatch...in a grocery store...with no groceries barred. People passing by on the street trying to get their groceries for dinner were awed by the sheer brutality of it. My head still hurts not only from the brutality of the match, but the brutality of the picture shaking on top of it. Although, I'm pretty sure getting hit in the head with a watermelon would hurt an awful lot. A lot of it is REALLY bad though, but if you watch it in the right frame of mind it's so bad it's good. If you enjoyed the Creme of Crap tapes this will be right up your alley.
