Its the first Big Japan match ive ever been to and i was surprised at the quality of the actual wrestling. There were less blown spots than I saw at X-MAS HUSTLE two weeks ago and there was the loveable comaraderie that only guys that smack each other with barb wire baseball bats have.
First off, Im guessing it was a debut match as there were a lot of ribbons thrown in the ring among a typically well trained bunch of young guys-but thats not what people pay to see, i guess.
Mad-man Pondo vs. NOSAWA;
I was shocked to see the no-reaction Nosawa got from his home crowd-they just kept cheering for Pondo-they just seem to love him so much. Anyway, they had a match that I later told Pondo was "pure rock'n'roll". There was such vast usage of a knife, a stop sign, and a staplegun, that after a while, it was pretty comfortable viewing. It looked violent where nessacary but they took good care of each other. Started with some nice technical wrestling, then fighting through the crowd (including a suplex by Nosawa into hard-fixed chairs). Lots and lots of chair usage. Pondo dislocated his F-U finger (see my wrestling gallery) but still singed autographs and took pictures with fans after the match.The ref stopped the match when they both slugged him simaltaneously.
Numazawa got really badly hurt in the semi-main event against (i cnt remember-the match lasted about 40 seconds). he attempted a hurracrana off of the apron, wasnt caught very firmly and landed back of the head first on the matting. Or so i thought. Actually it was just a piece of canvas and when they picked him up, a horrible pool of blood had formed under his head. Everyone went quiet, my friend would still not shut up which really annoyed me, I said a prayer for him as his fans cheered for him, being helped to the back.
KINTARO & SAZAKI vs. ITO & SHADOW WX
BARB WIRE BOARD, BARB WIRE IRON MAIDEN DEATHMATCH.
Okay, I call it an iron maiden-it was a wooden structue with a button in the middle so that if a guy hit it, the barb wire lid would fall on them.(Ill have pictures of it on my gallery soon!)
It started off with pure action! They started all exchanging great looking kicks and punches and spilled outside. Ito kicked Sazaki about the audience, did some cool stunts of the dusty ledges at the top, and exchanged chair shots. Meanwhile Kintaro set up a table under the balcony-exit and splashed Shadow.
Eventually, Kintaro and Ito both made it to the ring and started the actual deathmatch. The typical barb wire board spots were done and the iron-maiden thing was used. Shadow took the bump and it looked pretty cozy! But after that, they really stepped it up. Lots of great spots including a full nelson suplex by Kintaro on Sazaki onto barb wire, lots of heavy lariats by Shadow and some cracking kicks by Ito. Poor Sazaki got squashed to pieces.
It ended with Ito performing a fearless frog splash on a barb wire covered (cant remember who) with a piece of board over the top for good measure.
-okay that was my first show review- Ill do better next time-im tired now and just want to watch my fire-deathmatch VCD that i got for a peasly 500yen.
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
