    Best Deathmatch ever?

What do you think was the best Deathmatch to date?

My nominations in no particular order...

1 - Ryuji Yamakawa Vs Tomoaki Honma in a Barbwire Light Tube Boards & Spike Nails Deathmatch for the Big Japan Deathmatch Heavyweight title in '99.

It's so good because Honma suddenly become almost Misawa-esque in his selling, stiffness, fluidness of his movement as well as the psychology put into the match as well as the sickness.

2 - Zandig & Nick Gage Vs Jun Kasai & Mitsuhiro Matsunaga in a Super Fire Road Deathmatch.

Probably the best Fire Deathmatch I've ever seen. Twice did Kasai come off a truck driven to the ring and once more by Zandig as well as the wooden floor of the ring being exposed it's unbelievable.

3 - Ryuji Ito Vs Abdullah Kobayashi in a 100 Light Tubes, Caribbean Barbwire, Cactus, and Sheets of Glass Deathmatch for the Big Japan Deathmatch Heavyweight Title.

Ito's first title defence since winning the title from Kanemura in Ocotober 2003. In fact any Deathmatch with Ryuji Ito in it is excellent viewing material as he WRESTLES whilst in his Deathmatches instead of just doing spots or weapon shots all the time.

Megumi Kudo vs. Mayumi Ozaki 4/18/97

But hasn't this question been asked a dozen times now lately?

the 2 honma Vs yamakawa matches are mandatory at the top of the list for any best deathmatch list.

also i agree with your pimping of ito he rules even when he is in almost straight tag matches(a chair here or there) he rocks it. ito & sekimota Vs akerangers on the 9/11/2004 apache show got me to give modern bjw a try

a recent one i have enjoyed is sekimota Vs pondo. Sekimota does a great job telling the normal wrestler turning into deathmatch warrior story while working around pondo's considerable weaknesses as a worker

IMO 5 years from now we will view ito & sekimota as the yamakawa & honma of this era. with ito being the former deathmatch deity while sekimota will be the deathmatch who makes good and is is horibly misused by a mainstream fed

I like MEN'S Teioh and Sekimoto as a team better myself.

Best Deathmatch? Hmm, Kendo Nagasaki & Masanobu Kurisu vs. Tarzan Goto & Onita (for it's groundbreaking nature) (4/1/90), Sasuke & Hayabusa vs. Gannosuke & Kuroda (5/5/01), Kuroda vs. Hayabusa (5/22/01), Pogo & Funk vs. Hayabusa & Tanaka (5/5/96), Funk vs. Cactus (first Barbed Wire Meeting) (1/95) and Hido vs. Zandig from Fuyuki-Gun (12/5/03).

Combat Toyoda's retirement match, simply because of the emotions it generates

Yes. Their match against "The Skinheads" (Abdullah Kobayashi & Daikokobu Benkei) from 3/25/02, their match against Kanemura & Hido at the 7/4/2004 Kanemura festival and basically anything from their 2002 tag title reign. They had great chemistry in the ring as a team and could work a good match. Hope you enjoy them

Toby Klein vs. Necro Butcher from Iwa Mid south KOTDM was insane. Necro lost 4 teeth. and the pretty much killed each other. That wa the best one in the states. i have not seen enough from japan but Cactus Jack vs. Terry Funk from both "Duel of The Wilds" and the deathmatch tourny.

Ryuji Yamakawa vs Kintaro Kanemura in a Glass and Lightbulb Deathmatch. This match had Yamakawa being slammed faced first into sheets of exploding glass, he got hit in the head with a piece of a broken table by Kanemura and Yamakawa's head got stuck in the table piece, the ref had to help him pull his trapped head out. After the match both wrestlers had glass sticking out of their bodies and blood all over them. Or we have any of the Mr. Pogo vs. Mitsuhiro Matsunaga deathmatches. Ryuji Ito vs Abdullah Kobayashi in a glass, lightbulbs, barbed wire, and cactus deathmatch.

Yamakawa vs. Honma from BJW 6/20/99, Yamakawa vs. Shadow WX not sure of the date, but it's the one were Yamakawa get's the Light Tub stuck in his back and Honma vs. Shadow WX had 2 great Death Matches, but I'm not sure of the date of either one, but I do know that one of them is a Barb Wire Boards Death Match and the other is one were Shadow WX tries to choke Honma with a round Light Tub, but Tub just breaks while be around Honma's neck.

As for Death Matches in the US, I would have to say that Necro Butcher vs. Toby Klein from IWA-MS King Of The Death Matches 2004 and Corporal Robinson vs. Toby Klein from the same Tournament. Even though Robinson vs. Klein wasn't as good as Necro/Toby, but just the emotion behind it, held it for me.

I remember that Robinson Vs Klein match... it had a Log Cabin made up of about eighty light tubes.

Odd thing about the match was Robinson went threw it feet first.

Nick Gage vs Wifebeater in a 200 light tubes deathmatch. This match was sick the whole time. So many sick bumps and slams through the light tubes. After the match Wifebeater's whole body was covered in blood.
