Non Deathmatch wrestlers you'd like to see in deathmatches

A lot of times I hear about how inept garbage match wrestlers are at wrestling normal matches or at least wrestling traditional style match segments in a deathmatch. While those points are valid, I wonder what non-deathmatch wrestlers could hang in a deathmatch or even ultraviolent BJPW or CZW match. Any guesses?

Well, when Tomoaki Honma, a technical wrestler, started doing Deathmatches it was widely given applause as it helped put a decent work-rate into the violence. Same goes for Ryuji Ito who was a lucharesu wrestler prior to being the BJW Deathmatch Heavyweight Champion.

Samoa Joe would create some interesting Deathmatches... especially when put against Necro Butcher, IMO. But seeing as how he's "pure" in the eyes of ROH fans it's unlikely that he'll ever do one.

Chris Hero has done a Thumbtack Match once but nothing serious as far as full-blown Deathmatches go.

The Great Muta (Kenji Mutoh) in his prime would make an interesting character to put in Deathmatches... an FMW-style Deathmatch, I mean.

Eh, that's all I can think of at the moment because it's hard to imagine many pure wrestlers doing these types of matches.

Mutoh has done a death match Toan. He Wrestled as the Great Muta Vs The Great Nita (Atsushi Onita) in a no rope, explosive barbed wire, mat barricade fireworks deathmatch in New Japan. The other deathmatch was a no rope, explosive barbedwire death match between Onita and Riki Chosyu.

BTW Toan, who is Kenji Mutoh? *LOL*

I'd like to see Kane, The Undertaker, Hardcore Holly, John Cena, JBL, Nick Mondo, Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman (In their Primes), Edge, Christian, The Dudley Boys, The entire Roster of CZW, XPW and IWA Mid South all in death matches.

I actually think Shelton Benjamin could do one. He has this Hayabusa thing about him.

Don't mean to be annoying or anything but... you've got a few mistake in your list.

Nick Mondo, Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman have done Deathmatches before. Mondo and Dreamer did them in CZW with Tommy making appearances in early CZW against Zandig and Mondo being a cult icon for CZW's Deathmatch scene.

However Kane and Undertaker did what could be interpreted as a Fire Deathmatch once...

E&C would be cool to see in Deathmatches. Though they'd have to up the game a little like... doing a Flaming Con-chair-To!

JBL, Cena and Holly probably won't ever do any of these matches and personally I'd be glad if they didn't as they'd just stink up the match. I'm saying this as they probably would be afraid to take spots and even bleed. I won't say they'd botch moves because sadly most old-school Deathmatch wrestlers like Shoji Nakamaki, Mitsuhiro Matsunaga and Atsushi Onita were never known for pretty-looking moves.

I agree. But I'd think Cena and Holly would do it. Cena to prove he is hardcore because he is "from the streets" And Holly to prove he is hardcore and can take anything.

What deathmatch has the Sandman done?

I'd also like to see a "Flaming Conchairto"

The Stairway To Hell Match is where there is a ladder which leads to several strands of barbwire above the ring.

Also Sandman has done Deathmatches in XPW... mainly against Supreme.

The Stairway to Hell matches I've seen were just ladder matches.

Which ones were they? Were they the ones with Dreamer and Justin Credible or Sabu and Sandman?

one sth i've seen was credible v dreamer. then one that involved the sandman but i'm not sure if it was against sabu. and the last one is totally blank, no idea. i won't rule out the possibility that bw was involved in those matches, but if it was, it was only tangentially. and it definitely wouldn't have warranted the "death match" certificate.

It was as bloody as some matches that were called deathmatches. Sandman juiced as much due to the barbed wire as, say, some Megumi Kudoh matches or Matsunaga against Pogo matches. Most of his face was covered by blood due to the barbed wire that Sabu wrapped around his head and the subsequent baseball slide with the chair. Sandman also got some cuts from the barbed wire. It all depends on the definition of the term "deathmatch" I guess.
