What with all this talk of austin being out of the WWE(though iv no idea if its just hype or real) I think its only a matter of time before talk of him coming to japan starts up. What does everyone think about the prospect of austin in japan?

uhhhhhhhhh, have you been on the internet lately? Basically, Austin walked out the day of a Raw for the second time in 3 months. He is unhappy with the storylines. That is NOT a work. Don't expect to see him for a very long time. An employer can not have an employee who just leaves when they want. Oh yeah, the police were called to his house the other night because he beat his wife (Debra). That's an even bigger issue. The man has some serious personal issues. Also, the WWE has completely buried him on TV this last weekend, and basically the focus of RAW last night was to let the fans know that he is gone.

I honestly don't think any Japanese company would hire Austin if he's a wifebeater with personal issues, and anyway, the only Japanese company I anricipate having interest in him would be Fuyuki's WEW. He' does'nt have a monster gai-jin aura about him.
Sorry didnt see raw and iv only just read what happened on it. If he is gone then japan or retirement are the only 2 choices I think hes gonna make as nobody in the US is going to be able to meet his salary demands.
I can definatly see new japan going for him as hes alot bigger name than goldberg no matter what some people say. 4-5 years ago austin was carriable to a classic match with people like micheals and hart. Iv no idea if the brawling style he has used for the last few years has been forced on him because of injury or used out of choice.
Man, did'nt you read what I said about the monster aura? EVERY gai-jin New Japan has some form of monster credibility; there's Frye, the dangerous, deadly fighter, the diabolical rulebreaker; there's Rutten the 'unbeatable' shooter, Silva and Singh who are just freaks, Norton the roided up armwrestler, and the Steiner brothers. Austin does'nt have this and so does'nt appeal to them. In Japan, the gai-jin has to be an instant threat to any native, hence the use of giants, shooters and roid freaks. Goldberg has the monster win streak and legit credntials, helped along by a worked PRIDE win or two; he does have this monster aura.
Austin does'nt have this.
I could see All Japan doing a one off MUTA vs Austin at one of their big Budokan shows (and I would then be incredibly annoyed), but there's no chance of him having a regular touring contract with any Japanese company.
Couldn't Austin's "aura" be that he has just kicked everyone's butts in the U.S. for the last 5 years?
I think his style (and I think he even has stated this) shifted more towards brawling mainly to protect his biggest investment: himself. With the money he was making, he didn't want to do anything risky at all that could get him injured again. He was protecting himself. Whether he can go back to being technical, I don't know. His last match agains Flair was supposed to be technical (no punching). All he did was throw chops the whole match.

Yeah, Austin would have credibility because of his wins in the US, but not an aura. He was never played as the monster, and so he's not the right type. The anti-hero aura he has (i.e. he disrespects authoriuty but is a babyface) is not the right type for the needs of New Japan.
New japan used hogan in the early 90's a bit and he had no credibility as a threat. Austin's postion now is near identical to hogans position then as the top face in the US, ok hes an anti hero but this is an age of anti hero's just as hogan was in an age of patriotic hero's.
From a wrestling point of view I can see much good coming out of it. However this could be new japans chance to finally make some inroads in the US as austins still close to the top draw in the US where as hogan was on the slide a bit by the time they used him.
My opinion is that Austin is DONE. And I mean Done. Not, he'll be back on TV monday night, or he'll be back on the ppv, or even he'll be working for NJPW because Inoki likes his washed up gaijins...
HE'S DONE, GONE, NEVER TO RETURN, JUMP OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH, SEE YAH, ETC ETC ETC.
It'll be a terrible decision. Austin, after this, has a terrible reputation, refusing to put other people over, a wifebeater, and walking out on shows. It would be a bad decision for business, even if might be a good way to get attention. Even if Shin Nihon did consider hiring him, in appearance he lacks the "super gai-jin" aura, as stated. So I think he's just dug his own grave. Now for him to lie in it.
The guy can't do half the moves or take half the moves because of his neck. Why sign a cripple (no offence but he is) who brings the stigma of spousal abuse?
Yes, Austin is a cripple. He has lost a step or 5 since his haydays. I see him going to Jerrett's promotion if he doesn't striaghten his act up and make his way back to the WW...E, I just don't see him as a risk any Japanese promoter would be willing to take a chance on.
But, with recent events to consider, I say "Buh Bye."
I don't know...If Scott Hall, of all people, can have some matches in Japan, I don't see why Autsin can't. Anyway, I think it's time for Austin to just retire. Put his money into some good investments, and live off his millions for the rest of his life.
