Thumbs up Theme Of The Week for 24/6

Evening all, allow me to welcome to you to the debut of Theme Of The Week here at the puroresu.com forums Before I go any further, I'd like to thank Hisaharu for giving me permission to do the posts here.
OK, time for a quick explanation of how this works. If you've seen me do these posts over at pp.com then you'll know what goes on, but for those who haven't seen them here's what happens. Basically about once a week (although I'll admit it can be longer than that sometimes), I put a different puroresu entrance theme online for download on my webspace and offer my thoughts on said theme and if I'm feeling brave enough, the wrestler in question as well. I'm also open to requests for future TOTW's, but please bear in mind that in general I only put 1 theme a week online (with the occasional notable exception), so please don't ask me to do an entire album one week or something With that in mind, here are this week's offerings for your listening pleasure. Although I hadn't planned it this way, this week has a distinct Akiyama feel to it as both the downloads feature his themes in one way or another.
First up we have the lyrical AJPW version of "Shadow Explosion", although off the top of my head I can't remember if it was released on an album or not. I'll check on that one tomorrow and update the post if I find any further info. I'm afraid this isn't the best sounding copy (or complete for that matter) but I've not found a better one and sometimes you just have to go with what's available. You'll need either Windows Media Player or Winamp with WMA support installed to play this one. I'll freely admit I'm biased about this theme as "Shadow Explosion" ranks quite highly on my list of all time favourite themes. It's a shame it's incomplete really because I'd be interested to hear what the rest of the theme sounds like, assuming a full length version exists. The link is http://puroresu.webhop.net/totw2406a.zip
Next we have something I picked up over the weekend somewhat by sheer fluke. It's a combo theme for Akiyama and Yuji Nagata, "Sternness" and "Mission Blow". Again, I'm not sure what the origin of this one is either as it doesn't seem to have been released on a cd (nor would I expect it to have been in this case). I suspect it may have been something someone did on their own for a bit of fun but who knows. Either way, you need this one now http://puroresu.webhop.net/totw2406b.zip
I haven't really decided what I'm doing theme-wise for next week yet, but it will probably have 3 or 4 themes seeing as it's my birthday on Sunday If you have any particular requests, feel free to either PM me on the board or mention it in this thread to save cluttering the board with request posts For the record, this post was brought to you by the Mike Oldfield album Tres Lunas and Walker's chocolate covered shortbread (biscuit/cookie type thing).

I hope you enjoy the themes and I'll see you next week with another TOTW post.

Its great to see you bring TOTW to this board. You were the main reason I visited that other board you post on. As for requests, I remember you guys talking about Kensuke Sasaki's "The World" theme. Just wondering if this is the same theme he uses currently?

    COOL!

I've been looking for a place to get some puroresu themes forever now.

I swear I must be retarded or something. In the last year I've only been able to come across Great Sauske's, Masato Tanaka's, Jado & Gedo, and Hayabusa's themes heh.

OK, I'm going to take these in order:

    Lariat:
Yes, "The World" is Sasaki's current theme. He started using it at the October Dome show last year, which featured the intro from "Take The Dream" at the beginning, before moving onto the version without that shortly afterwards.

    Luds:
Um, and that one would be? I should point out that my tape collection is basically non-existant, what matches I have, I obtained from WinMX and Hotline That's changing soon hopefully but I digress. IMHO, it's going to be one of two Muta themes (a simplified version of "Hold Out") which features an instrument that sounds like drumsticks being hit against each other or something.

    Hisaharu:
I must admit, I'm quite pleased with the feedback as well It's gone better than I had expected it to really.

The last couple of comments I'm gonna handle in one go seeing as they both concern looking for themes. Audiogalaxy was very hit and miss in terms of downloading themes really as a lot of the themes there were the same thing under multiple names, plus there were quite a few that weren't even remotely named correctly Personally, I prefer WinMX 2.6 for theme hunting most of the time. Yes, I'm aware that 3.2 is out, but it doesn't handle Japanese searches very well for me. Something I intend to do when I get my website up and running (don't hold your breath, I've been working on it for months now ) is a guide to theme hunting and what's best to use etc.

For anyone who's interested in the Kensuke Sasaki "The World" theme, here's a link to a site that offers it along with a few other songs to download:

Thanks to El Psycho Diablo on that "other" message board for the link!

Whatever happened to doing this as a regular thing?

I'd do it but I don't have the webspace to store the tracks....
