I ask myself this question everytime I see one of there respective matches. This is my ultimate dream match. I truly believe it is the biggest match left. By that I mean money wise. I do not see any American or Japanese match being bigger at the box office. Im sure both men have thought of this before. The question is who would go over? I think the only thing to do would be a time limit draw. A few months back Misawa wrestled Chono to a 30 minute draw. Im getting that tape in a few days. Anyway I really had my hopes up last year. New Japan and Noah worked togather some. I thought they might do the match. Then out of the blue Mutoh jumps to All Japan. The match might never happen now. I just do not know if All Japan and Noah will ever work togather. I would think there is still alot of heat between Baba's wife and Misawa. What do you guys think?
Well I don't know the current state of affairs and affections bewteen Mokoto Baba and Misawa. I'm still thinking All Japan is smarting after the exodus. It could happen, but you'd need to pose the question where it would occur and who would do the job. It could end up as a draw, but I get the feeling one of the two would surely want a pinfall victory. More than anything, Mokoto would want her AJPW boy to score the victory as it would probably be a redeeming factor after the split (that an All Japan athlete pinned a former AJPW-now-NOAH-president).
NOAH at this point in time have a working agreement with New Japan I believe. Who knows - maybe after that NOAH would feud with All Japan. It would be pretty heated if you ask me.
If this were 5-10 years ago I'd love to see it. But now I'm not as hyped about a possible Mutoh vs Misawa match. Don't get me wrong, they're still tremendous, however Mutoh has lost a step in the last 2 or 3 years I think. And Misawa I'm just kinda sick of to be frank.
Well I think both men would be open to the idea. They both know it would be good for buisness. I think they could both live with a draw. I know both men have lost a step or 2. For the way they worked for the last 15 years its very understandable. I would take either one of them at 25% over 95% of every worker on the planet. Im not saying they now work at 25% of what they use to. Im just making a point. If the match happened I also thought where would be the venue to do it. I would think they could pack any stadium or arena. I would also think it would either be a joint show between Ajpw and Noah or a show promoted by a neutral promotion. Something puzzled me a few years ago. It was on the first week of May All Japan Ntv from 99. It opened up with Misawa and Mutoh shakeing hands. The only thing I can figure was for media purposes. Probably an awards thing. I was thinking wow how nice it would be if it were a contract signing.
This will undoubtedly be the biggest puroresu match in a long time. Misawa is still proberbly in the top twenty puro wrestlers at the moment (just), and Keiji continues to prove his critics wrong by making incredible comebacks. The divine intervention that may bring these two together must act quickly because these two, I'm sure they still want to fight each other, and it will definately boost this dry period in puroresu which seems to have gone on too long. It's really up to the wrestlers to get it together.
"Marge, I agree with you in THEORY...In THEORY Communism works. In THEORY..."
Yeah I think it would really light a fire under fans. It needs to happen soon though. I dont see either man going more than 5 more years. Mutoh's knees are in terrible shape. His doctors told him to hang it up last year. I even heard he could not walk in a straight line. I do not know if its true or not. I would watch him in a wheel chair though. He would still find a way to top the other guys. The 2 matches he had with Kawada are off the page!! Plus matches with Tenryu and Hase in 2001.
If this match were to happen, I would imagine it would be a double-blocked confrontation (Two matches). During the AJ/NJ partnership the main attraction was the vacated IWGP title, which Sasaki and Kawada were fighting for. The first match between the two was a non-title match. Kawada won, and the disgraced Sasaki voluntarily vacated his IWGP championship feeling that he didn't deserve it. The second match happened as the finals of a tournament for the then-vacated IWGP belt, seeing Sasaki win it back by going over Kawada.
If Mutou and Misawa were to actually wrestle, I think that each would have to win a match. Misawa could go over Mutou in a NOAH ring, while Mutou goes over in the AJPW ring. Or, to make it even a bit more dramatic, Have each wrestler go over in his opposing ring.
Yeah I have those 2 Kawada v Sasaki matches. Were those stiff or what? I dont think the 2 match split would work. Reason being the man that gets the first win looks supperior to the other. I would love to see a 2 or 3 match program between the 2 though. I think the only way they would have a series of matches is if Ajpw and Noah had a promotionel feud. Both companies would have to look good. There is no way either would dominate.
perhaps muto wins in an NOAH ring, misawa in an ajpw ring(or vice versa), and then a big freakin interpromotional event where the two would wrestle to a draw. it would draw huge all 3 times and give the promotions an excuse to have sort of a carnival together.
"uh, you're a tool?" rvd to big show after show wanted to know why he didn't get the ic title shot
I'd find it hard to believe that either man would job to the other.
And I think both men have become more selfish in the ring recently so the match would probably be full of no-selling.
I get the feeling that it will happen someday along the line, though
Originally posted by Yoshimitsu I have a feeling Misawa is less selfish than Muto.
I respect your opinion, but strongly disagree... Muto has jobbed like crazy compared to Misawa... Muto has lost many matches to Chono, Nagata, Kawada, Tenryu in the last couple of years... Misawa on the other hand, lost about 5 matches in his entire career!
