Two things did it for me

I guess you could say that two things did it for me: Hayabusa and Jushin Liger. The first two tapes I recieved were the 1997 FMW/ECW crossover and the New Japan Super J Cup. I got the J-Cup because I was interested in Benoit's Japan stuff and I got the FMW tape because I had some familiarity with ECW. Anyways to this day, I still like to watch Hayabusa, Jushin Liger and Chris Benoit. They are my favorites. IN the past two years I have gotten into All Japan, and it is probably the best heavyweight stuff I have ever seen, but I have always been partial to Juniorweight stuff and New Japan is where its at.

I have a similar story, my sister who is also a puroresu fanatic buys lots of tapes and when I was 8 in 1995, I seen an FMW tape of Onita's retirement card and I loved it and asked her to borrow some Puroresu tapes and I also seen Michinoku Pro because Hakushi had just come to the WWF and my sister told me to check that out and I have been hooked ever since I seen those 2 tapes...
