Please remember that this is a poll for the wrestler of the 1990s, not for promoter or booker. Please vote a wrestler for his/her achievement but not by your preference.
I added Mutoh, Dragon, and Hayabusa because there were three more spots and they had very close votes in their respective category.
I chose Misawa because, well, he is one of the gods of pro-wrestling!!! Everyone else on there are great, but Misawa fits the bill, man. had the triple crown like 5 or six times, could carry the greenest of the green of wrestlers to a watchable match, etc.
You love me, you love me not, but you definately respect me!!!!
I went with Keiji Mutoh, because to me, he encapsulated the 90's. Numerous championships, successful tours on other continents, and he kept his character throughout the decade...he gets my vote...
Not only did he dominate NJ as a heel with his Muta personna, he also did so as a face defeating Hashimoto, and Takada in 2 of the biggest matches ever...
I chose Mutoh because he is one of the people who opened my eyes to puroresu. He has crossed promotions and continents. He was one of the greatest performers I have ever seen. I say was because we are talking about the 90's and also because I just watched the recent Mutoh/Liger match and it wasn't that good. I thought there was way too much ground work in that match.
Just wanted to know why Big Van Vader wasn't included in the poll. He wrestled more in Japan than in the States and also has held a major title on every continent.
I voted Keiji Mutoh. He has been very good in both leagues he's been. Becoming the IWGP tag champion and the Triple Crown Champion at the same time is not a feat just anyone can achieve. Plus, he is a heavyweight that can really soar like a junior heavyweight. I would have voted Mitsuharu, but I think he belongs to the 80s. Seeing some of his matches just made me remember that he is really old and can no longer perform as well as he used to.
I voted Tenryu for the similar reasons Ganso has. Also, many wrestlers on this list really had "good" matches, but I think Tenryu had more "memorable" matches throughout the '90s.
I placed my vote for Manami Toyota. But what I want to know is how you could possibly not have Akira Hokuto on this list! Or Aja Kong! Or Dynamite Kansai! Or Chaparrita ASARI! Or Bull Nakano! These women where twice as good a worker than 3/4 of the men on this list. Do not disrespect Joshi Puroresu!
Why are people voting in such a markish way? Surley how many matches someone has won or who they have beaten has no meanign what so ever. As Hisaharu said its for wrestler of the 90's not backstage politicer of the 90's or self promoater of the 90's.
My point, exactly! The Joshi wrestlers that I mention for A+ wrestlers! The ring work was steller! And the most important thing to me was how they made their opponents look stellar. That is what makes a great talent. Not your pops. Not how cool you look. But if you can make great, exciting matches. Even if you are going over or not!
My point exactly why I chose Mitsuhara Misawa as wrestler of the '90's. I know in my last post here, I mentioned that he won the triple crown like 5 or 6 times, but that may sound stupid for voting for him though. Because remember, titles and wins are given to you by management, but wrestling talent is your own, and Misawa has plenty of that. He has had an unmatched list of great matches (not all of them he won) so just for his great matches, I have to give it to Misawa. Close seconds to him I would've voted for were probably the Great Sasuke, Ultimo Dragon, and Keiji Muto.
You love me, you love me not, but you definately respect me!!!!
