Tiger Mask TV Series

I just saw on highspots the original series of the Tiger Mask cartoon for sale. I was just wondering if anyone has actually seen it? What is the scenario, who IS Tiger Mask in it, etc? Is it worth getting?

From what i understand, the scenario is about the dude's father getting killed and he looking for the killers and whatnot. I forgot how the TM gimmick comes into play, but rest assured he's not donning the mask to fight crime ala Spiderman! There's real wrestling in the ring involved. I think he's wrestling for the "Tiger's Lair" organization all the while investigating the group itself.

Anyway, the guy under the mask is of course the main character but i forgot his name. He sure as hell ain't Sayama or Misawa or Kanemoto, as it is the gimmick that's based on the anime and not the anime that's based on the gimmick.

Oh, and Inoki and Giant Baba is in the show in animated form. How cool is that?

Speaking of wrestler animes, does anyone know where to go to get copies of the one Jushin Liger's gimmick was based on? Or what the title was? I know it's been fansubbed because I saw a review of it once upon a time but don't remember anything else about it.

The anime "Jushin Liger" wasn't very popular and didn't last long. Few years after it started, people knew Liger as a pro-wrestler more than a cartoon character.

Really? I was under the impression that it ran 52 episodes, which is a pretty decent run. I mean, Fushigi Yuugi ran 52 for Chrissake.

Many cartoons in Japan run for either a year or a half, so 52 episode is usual. Maybe it was just my area that the show was cancelled. I'm not sure because I was already in the US by then, but I remember the show was cancelled somewhere (not be nationally, perhaps).
