ok maybe there already was a thread on this and, for whatever reason, I missed it but I just read that on January 18th, the Shiek, real name: Edward Farhat, passed away. Note thats the origional Sheik not the Iron Sheik. Uncle to Sabu, mentor or others including RVD, the sheik was one of the origionators of hardcore wrestling, way back when. His matches w/ Abdullah the Butcher are classic, and I figured I woulda heard about his death 2 months ago when it happened. Im sure the Sheik isnt as widly recognized as a Curt Henning who also recently passed, but it was still a sad day for wrestling.
If you are unfamiliar w/ the Sheik here is the best page I could find on him http://www.geocities.com/sheikfan/

I don't think his death caught as much attention from people, because he died in his 70's and the media is more focused on the early deaths of wrestlers.
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
From what I saw, the death of Ed Farhat was more publicized than Curt Hennig's. I read about the Sheik's accomplishments in many major newspapers (at the library), yet the only thing I saw on Hennig (outside of wrestling news) was a note on the bottom of the screen on CNN.
Proud enough for you to call me arrogant
Greedy enough to be labeled a thief
Angry enough for me to go and hurt a man
Cruel enough for me to feel no grief...
