Some of the best inter-promotional matches

With Chono vs. Kobashi possibly looming for the 5/2 Tokyo Dome show being put on by New Japan, and recently watching Liger & company invade the NOAH Juniors as well as Chono, Nagata, Misawa, Akiyama, Mutoh & Hashimoto gracing other promotion's rings over the last several years, my interest was raised on the history of inter-promotional matches. It is a very interesting concept. First, with a decent and popular match up, promoted well, it could rake in huge box office that could bolster both companies. If done right, a feud, short as it may seem, could be done during each promotion's events and pay off for both. The down side would have to be the politics involved. Promoters don't want their boys jobbing in other promoters rings making one look weaker. This also can lead to no contests, no decisions, time limit draws, etc. with no victor, and the paying fans feel slighted. The best bet is probably trading wins. For example, Misawa beats Mutoh at an All Japan event, then Kojima comes into NOAH and takes out Akiyama, this is of course a hpothetical situation, but one that could benefit both promotions. NOAH could definately bolster ticket sales for AJPW, and Kojima could spice up a NOAH event as well. That brings me to my question. Howhave inter-promotional matches been done successfully or not in the past? And, what are some of the most memorable & forgettable match ups that you've seen?

New Japan vs. UWFI... almost a full year 1995-96...

More singles bouts than any other inter feud, great matches from opening to main events = sellouts in every big inter event!!!

Muta vs. Takada (Muta wins and also takes away UWFI top perception, if not physical belt due to Lou Thesz.)
Muta vs. Takada II (Takada rebounds and takes away IWGP heavyweight title in turn.)
Takada vs. Hashimoto (back to the drawing board for UWFI)

IWGP tag team champions Hashimoto & Hirata vs. Anjo & Takayama (their first title shot in a major league)

Sakuraba jobs to Kanemoto, Otani, Iizuka and Ka Shin (who hadn't assumed the mask yet)
Kakihara beats Sasaki!! Anjo beats Chono!!!
Hiromitsu Kanehara leaps from obscurity for a brief time with wins over Akira Nogami and Akitoshi Saito.

Of course, there are ugly parts such as Choshu downing Kakihara and Sasaki doing the same to Takayama.

But in the end, this feud damaged UWF-I and cause it to fold (one of the reasons, at least)

Kawada and Sasaki's first match (where Kawada went over) was absolutely unbelievable. Unfortunately, it was the only memorable match from the 2000-2001 All Japan vs New Japan feud. Their 10-minute rematch for the IWGP title couldn't even come close to their first classic bout.

My favorite interpromotional match was from All Japan and New Japan's joint Tokyo Dome Show from I believe 1989. That card saw one of the stiffest matches in history as Stan Hansen literally knocked Vader's eye right out of its socket. As I recall that was the main event and they ended up selling out the Dome. I would call that the greatest interpromotional match of all time.
