Lordy, lordy. In the June 2003 issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated, they feature their annual 'pro wrestling insiders poll'. For those of you who don't know, this is a poll where PWI makes up the results and claims that they sent out ballots to 'insiders from every major promotion', and recorded the answers. Average questions are like "Who is the WWE MVP" or "Who has the best piledriver variation".
Tajiri?!?! I mean...honestly...TAJIRI. What in the world are these guys thinking, they don't list top guys like Kenta Kobashi, Koji Kanemoto, Yoshihiro Takayama, etc, but TAJIRI, the goofball jobber from WWE that hasn't had a good match in about 3 years, gets 15 percent of the votes. Then again, this is the magazine that ranked Rob Van Dam as the best pro wrestler of 2002, so I shouldn't be so surprised.

I've said it before and i'll say it again. American fans even some of the most "scientific" fans are ignorant about japanese wrestling.
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
I still have issues with them calling the WWE and World Titles, Smackdown and Raw Championships, respectively. That is not what the titles are called and it is not mentioned that way on WWE programing. They also reported on the internet story that Angle was going to be out a full year. That is when I lost respect for PWI... I mean, come on, this is journalism not finding articles on the internet.
Me. Ranting. Again.

It really sucks that for a lot of kids, PWI is their main source of wrestling info. It's no wonder the WWE fans are in the sad state of affairs they are right now.

This is because japanese wrestling doesn't have a real foothold in North America now. There isn't a cheap and easily accessable venue for fans of puroresu. If it was cheap and easy, more people would see it, and realize that Tajiri isn't the best representative of Japan.
Also remember, they polled "industry insiders". There was a note on wrestlecrap.com that they accidently used the footage of Goldberg giving Bret Hart his concussion in Goldberg's video montage because they didn't know that it happened. It was also listed that McMahon didn't even know who Goldberg was until about a month ago (rumour is). If that is the case, do you think he knows (or even cares) who Mutoh, Nagata, Misawa and the others are? That shows that the these wrestling "insiders" are not the fans (which also explains why we keep getting cruddy wrestling here...).
Don't hate them because they are ignorant, help them to see the error of their ways.

Suggesting that McMahon didn't know who Goldberg was before a month ago is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. And really, should Vince care who Mutoh, Nagata, and Misawa are? But for the record, I bet he does know who they are.

I am pretty sure McMahon knows who Goldberg was before a month ago (to suggest so is to say that Pepsi didn't know who Coke was until recently). Also, I'm pretty sure Vince knows who Nagata, Muto, & Misawa are (Vince brought Tenryu in for Royal Rumble '93 or '94). The guy is narrow-minded not stupid. This is what annoys me: people hear so-called 'rumors' and let them fester into facts.
