Jim Ross announced on RAW tonight that Fred Blassie had passed away today.
Blassie was a legend not only in the US but also in Japan where he was a top heel against Rikidozan.
He lived only 10 to 15min from where I live, and since his wife and I had a mutual friend, I always thought I could meet him anytime I want to. Never happened.
RIP, Classy Freddie Blassie. You will be missed by generations of fans. May you wrestle in the great ring in the sky once again with Rikidozan.
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
Indeed he'll be missed. He must've been the greatest promo man of the last 50 years. If Mohammed Ali says he used to model his promos after him, I doubt there were many better than him.
"Marge, I agree with you in THEORY...In THEORY Communism works. In THEORY..."
This is very sad news, I cant believe it, he will be remembered and missed
"Life is based less than you think on what you've learned, and much more than you think on what you have inside you right from the beginning." -- Bret Hart
My heart fell when I heard of his passing. He was a great heel and a great manager.
I saw the video on Smackdown, and I thought that they did a great job... I shed a tear. I'll won't be able to hear that song again without think of him.
Goodbye, Mr. Blassie.
Although we are sad at his leaving us, we should all drink a toast to him to celebrate his life.
Signed, a pencil-necked geek...
Proud enough for you to call me arrogant
Greedy enough to be labeled a thief
Angry enough for me to go and hurt a man
Cruel enough for me to feel no grief...
