Okay, this question is complicated, so bear with me. There are certain moves associated with certain wrestlers that work well for them, and are known because of it (e.g. Lesnar's F5, Misawa's Emerald Fusion). If for some reason there was no "protecting their own finishers" and anyone from either side of the Pacific can pull out someone else's finishers, which do you think would make the biggest impact? Like say, would Stone Cold Stunners do as well in Japan as Muto's Shining Wizard (the real version... not the crappy one that Hurricane does). Or could you see Angle do a TD '91, , and have Kobashi doing the F5 on someone? Basically, what finishers can make the biggest impact across the ocean?
That's a good question. To be honest, I don't think that any American finisher can have much of an impact in Japan, well except the Vertabreaker, since most American finishers... are ... well... total crap!
Seriously, the Burning Hammer, Emerald Frosion, Liger's brainbuster, an Exploder, a HUGE German Suplex, Dragon Suplex, Sleeper Suplex, Tiger Driver '91... are much better moves than anything WWE has to offer!
Vince is protecting his guys so much, I mean, WWE guys can't use piledrivers, Helms can't use his vertabreaker, they also banned all head movies like brainbusters...
It;s total crap. An F5... Seriously, that's really lame! An Angle Slam !?! Come on!

I dig what you guys are saying. Not too long ago when Lesnar debuted the F-5, everyone was calling it "innovative". Even Billy Kidman, who was angry at Lesnar for "stealing his move" (IE: The Shooting Star Press), said anyone can do an F-5.
As far as moves from Japan making it to the U.S. The Michinoku Driver has been copied a little too much. You don't see too many people doing Naoya Ogawa's STO in the states either.
There is this one wrestler who wrestles for Windy City Pro named Acid Jazz and he uses Marifuji's Shiranui and calls it (get this) the "Acid Drop"
PS: on a side note about Kidman; how can he say that anyone stole "his" move and he didn't create the Shooting Star Press. Jushin Liger did.

Somebody dissed the Angle Slam here... Justice Pain of CZW/XPW does the move a bit differently & with more head drop, called The Pain Thriller, which I believe could work in Japan.

That sound like a whirling Death Valley Driver.

Who says the Olympic Slam can't work in Japan? Hell, Blue Wolf and Tamon Honda do it, don't they? (could be wrong about one of those) A move doesn't have to be a headdrop or a brutal strike to get over in Japan. Guys like Nishamura can get people marking like crazy for simple stuff like cradles and cobra stretches. It's all in how you work it.
Sugiura does it too and he's GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion right now if memory serves me right.
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
I think that alot of the moves used in puroresu would make watching WWE better, and all of them would fare rather well, its just a matter of McMahon not allowing them.
And as for moves that would fare well in Japan..well if for no other reason than it is the only move I can think of.. The Vertebreaker.
Oh, and by the way, why is McMahon such a pansy? I wanna see the Vertebreaker again!!!

Because he does'nt want any of his wreslers getting hurt.
About the STO comment, I've seen Christopher Daniels use it alot but then he stradles the puroresu/american wrestling divide. About Kidman: Kidman claims that he was inspired to do the SSP after doing it for years (so he claims) diving into the pool from a diving board. It doesn't matter, his SSP always looks like crap. Its a shame Paul London couldn't do it when Kidman was around because his version is just plain beautiful.
Moves that might make it in puro- Saturn's arm submissions, Konnan's Tequila Sunrise submission and His cradle DDT/Fisherman's buster, A.J. Styles's Styles Clash, "The Canadian Destroyer" Flip Piledriver that Petty Williams does, Jerry Lynn's Cradle Piledriver, any number of submissions.
In the WWE: Victoria's Widow Peak, Chavo's/Kerwins Gori bomb, The vertebreaker, The Haas of pain was a great submission but of courrse Haas isn't there anymore, The Batista bomb (and his spinebuster).
About the Vertebreaker in Japan....Megumi Kudo used it before The Hurricane did I believe. And the Stone Cold Stunner is pretty much an Ace Crusher (used in Japan). The Ki Krusher '99 is cool but it's a Fisherman Falcon Arrow another puroresu type move.
Brock Lesnar used a sketchy version of the STO too didn't he?
Yeah, Brock's version was a rough looking clothesline/trip STO move. Kudoh used the vertibreaker but not as a normal finisher; she'd use it in deathmatches and other high-profile matches, but she'd often win with a roll-up move, or a move like the azteca suplex( straightjacket suplex) or the pyramid driver (entangled power bomb). I think the Vertibreaker/Kudoh was used in Mexico, since it's called a reverse Gory Bomb or whatever the term actually is . I thought the Ki Krusher was Low Ki's version of Lioness Asuka's LSD III?
