Create another puro fan - reccomend tapes!

Hi, y'all. I've recentley decided to check what all this hype about this "puroresu" stuff is all about. I've ordered the Super J C '94 as a trial for puro - presuming I enjoy it (and by the sound of things I will) what other tapes would you reccomend for a puro newbie? All suggestions welcome, but I'm not into "hardcore" feds.

Puroresu is a lot more diversified than what's available over here. Perhaps you should start with some comp tapes then you can decide what you like best. Lots of people carry a good selection of them and it's a good introduction to the different styles that being said if you like the '94 J-Cup tape go ahead and buy the '95 J-cup and '96 J-crown tapes they are almost as good. Dreamslam 1 & 2, and Big Egg Wrestling Universe are all good. If you run across anything with Kawada vs Misawa listed on it buy it. Michinoku Pro's "These Days" is a safe bet. Really you can close your eyes and pick a tape from the mid 90's at random and stand a good chance of getting a great tape.

    Buy a title history comp.

Like the History of the Triple Crown. You'll see wrestlers like Misawa, Kawada, Tenryu, Taue, Kobashi, Tsuruta, Hansen...

This is gonna show you what All JApan was really about!!!

    Little niggle

Well, may I just say that aside from the dire opener, the J 94' rocked the house. I'll definatly pick some of other J-tournaments, and since Sasuke was so impressive, I'll give These Days a go as well.

One problem: I live in the UK, meaning my choices are limited to two PAL sites that I know of (Strong style and kingoftheshill. If you of any others, please tell me), and the only real comp tape is a Strong Style tape one that seems to be 80% NJ junior stuff anyways.

Can anyone actually give me a list of tapes which are for all the other styles/feds what the J Cup 94' is to junior stuff? Or a tape that has junior stuff (or any other style I mention liking), but has matches of other styles. Thanks.

NJ Tokyo Dome show on 1/4/96, I believe was called "Wrestling World '96" is also a good entry choice as it showcases several different styles all on the same card, NJ juniors which you will already are familiar with has Kanemoto vs Liger, there's a battle with current top dog heavys before they were huge in Kojima vs Tenzan, there's some matches from the UWFI vs NJ feud with the youngsters 6 man with Saku, Kanehara & Yamamoto vs Nagata, Otani & Ishizawa (Kashin?), also Kakihara vs Choshu and the big one Takada vs Mutoh, Puro legend Antonio Inoki fights Vader in an epic, and even WAR and later FMW/WEW big man the late Hiromichi Fuyuki and his cronies JAdo & Gedo take part. Other appearances by Sasaki, Hase, Hashimoto, Yamazaki, Chono, Koshinaka & Anjoh. Overall a good show that has a variety of styles.

Thanks for the suggestions, GH. I've added Navigate for Evolution and G1 03 to my shortlist.
Would AJ vs. NJ 01 be a good choice? I can't find wrestle world 96, and and the interprotional 01 stuff looks like a good guide to heavies.

    DavyRam,
you might want to try simania tapes b/c they're based in the UK. As far as the '01 NJ vs AJ stuff, well I really wasn't into AJ following the NOAH split as all the talent except for Kawada left and so I didn't care much for the feud as NJ wasn't too impressive that year either IMO and Sasaki's run as "ace" there was less than stellar, although Mutoh's run in both promotions was some of his best work, and really shows how big of a talent he can be when Good Mutoh shows up.

    Hi everyone, I'm new here.

Like DavyRam, I'm also interested in acquiring some puroresu tapes. I've been aware of puroresu for a couple of years, and I've read about it on the Web, but I haven't actually seen any of it as yet. I think I would really enjoy it though, with its emphasis on in-ring action and clean finishes, and its notable lack of soap opera storylines and grade school skits.

Luds, I wrote to you last week about buying a tape from you but you haven't responded yet. Did you not receive my message?

Anyway, greetings to all of you.

Sorry about that Trash Channel, I've been really busy and I probably lost your mail... I know that someone else told me about this before, My hotmail was filled and I couldn't even log in for a couple of days cause a friend of mine sent me a huge email containing tons of picks. It might have been deleted automatically then to make room (I hate hotmail!)... can you resend me your email?

Make sure your title stands out! (TAPE DEAL)

    Thanks
