    Another tragic loss.

1wrestling's Georgianne Makropoulos reports that Michael Hegstrand, better known as Road Warrior Hawk, passed away in his sleep at 1:30 am.

Makropoulos reported that Hegstrand has recently sold his condominium to move today into a new home in Florida. His wife said "he was going to lay down for a while, he didn't feel well". She thought it was from all the packing and excitement of the move into their new home.

PWBTS wishes to send its condolences to the fans, friends and the family of Michael Hegstrand, Road Warrior Hawk.

not another great wrestler gone this year, we have been stung by the losses of so many great wrestlers this year, from all sorts of causes, from drugs, old age, and other mishaps, this becoming depressing.

RIP, LOD Hawk you will be remembered as a great tag wrestler.

On a related note, The Dudley Boyz dedicated their match on tonight's RAW to Hawk and used the Doomday Device to defeat La résistance.

I always thought that the Doomsday Device sucked as a move, but I was happy to hear that the Dudley used the movie last night...

Hawk passing away in his forties is sad, especially just a couple of days after Stu Hart's passing, but, and I hope people don't find me too harsh here, I really wish someone in the business would learn something from this. Yes, I know, it's not 100% proof that Hawk passed away from drug-related causes, but his situation is awfully similar to what has happened to others before him, so I think a lot of us can and will at least guess that. Heck, I'm shocked Jake Roberts is still around with us.

But, anyways, RIP Hawk. I guess, being an old-school NWA follower, my favourite memory of Hawk is when the NWA tried turning the Road Warriors heel against Dusty Rhodes and it went so badly that the fans were chanting something like "KILL THE PIG!" or something along those lines...

Regardless if Hawk was an active user, I think there is something to be learned from his death as well (not that the industry will pay attention), that is the magnificient price your body pays for the abuse of steroids and HGH. What that stuff can do to your heart and other pieces of your make up is tragic.
Scott Stiener is a living time bomb. As is Luger. But if you pay attention to all the unnecessary losses here in the U.S. (and in his own way Dynamite Kid) it is hard to deny the supplemential issues may have played a regressive toll on the physiology.

Agreed, and I would add Triple H to that list of ticking time-bombs. But I hate talking about human lives about like that, but it's the sad truth, I hope somebody sees the light and cleans up this sport.

OMG! what would Vince do if that happened! He'd have to find someone else to carry the WCW title 10 months a year

As A kid I was a truly die hard Road Warriors fan. I even went to a halloween party as Hawk and my friend was Animal. I am heartbroken and sad over the deaths of not only Michael "Hawk" Hegstrand, but of Stu Hart as well. My prayers to the families and fans of both men.
