WAR started in 1992 and closed in 2000. But, I'm not sure how. WAR closed around the same time Genichiro Tenryu re-entered All Japan Pro-Wrestling, so that might have something to do with it. Tenryu had always been the top star in WAR.

I think the "R" meant revolution but Tenryu could not use the word because he could not get permission from Baba.

WAR's actual demise starts in February 1998 when Tenryu begins to compete in New Japan full-time as a WAR representative. It was about the same time he began focusing on major championships again, right? Takei (Tenryu's brother in law and WAR commissioner) tried to make Araya his new top star, but failed so miserably that WAR began running cards less and less. Yasuraoka quit, so did Ultimo Dragon, and with lack of interest, the last WAR card was run on July 13, 2000, a few days after Tenryu had announced his return to All-Japan as a full member.
