can someone give me some advice or websites or something on how i can daily keep up on news, updates, etc in the puro world or professional wrestling? i am still quite new to puro, as i just recently recieved my tapes and i am trying to get through them. the only problem that lies ahead is trying to pronounce their names right and remembering their faces

I have a hard time with it myself. http://www.puroresufan.com is a good site for all things related to New Japan, and http://www.wrestleline.com just started back up again, with two columns dedicated to puroresu(at least that's what it looks like at the moment). There's always http://www.1wrestling.com, but the pop-ups drive me nuts.

thanks alot for the links. another question i have for alot of people, is how do you keep up on watching all these great matches that come from japan? what i mean, is that for someone like me who just started to get into puro, there is so much to read, so much to watch...where does everyone get the time and probably more important, money, to keep up on this great sport?

    again thanks

Well first off, as a new fan, it's good to be exposed to many great matches. The classics if you will. SO most fans buy tapes from dealers.

For instance, the History of the Triple Crown and the History of the IWGP Heavyweight title. Then once you own some great Misawa/Kawada/Kobashi abnd Great Muta/Chono matches, you can either expand to Best of Junior tournaments and Osaka pro, or buy more classic matches.

Once you have some tapes, you can try and trade them to other fans or keep buying some. Some times, you and a friend can team up, buy a couple of different tapes each, copy them and voila, you've got twice as much!

If you need a hand from a fellow Canadian, let me know, I have a little bunch of tapes of my own

the one thing i find about trading is, for example, how would i trade some tapes with someone like you (luds) if you already have the majority, if not all the tapes i have. it seems to me it would be hard to find a reliable tape trader that has tapes that i would want, that someone else wouldn't have...anyone know what i'm talking about?

I ran into this problem when I started tape (music) trading. Typically, people will help out "newbies". I got most of my CD's by sending blanks & postage ("B & P") to guys... they burn it and send it back. Tapes might be harder cause I know more people with CD burners than I know people with 2 VCR's set up to record. But that's why G-O-D invented the internet. Just talk to people with tapes, Luds for one has a lot and (although I can't speak for him) he might be willing to help you out. It might come down to you shelling out 15 bucks over at HighSpots like most of us did.

Thanks for the reply Haiku Warrior, I guess I'll have to start talking to people. To be honest, I never heard of that before, but it seems to be an easy way to get started. Just out of curiosity, what kind of music where you seeking that needed "B & P"? I know a friend that has a hard time getting European Metal, but finds it at random stores. I was just wondering, seeing how most music seems to be accesible via hometown or internet. Just wondering...

But I guess my next question now, is there anyone out there who is willing to help me out with tpaes? Or maybe is there a list of tape traders on the forum that I can get in contact with?

Yes, the first thing as a newbie to tapes is to buy tapes.

One thing that you can do is that if you want to buy something from another site (highspots for instance) you can talk to me and see if I would like that tape. Doing so, you'll pay 15$ for that highspots show, and be able to trade it with me and get a second show, basically, twice as much puro for the same amount of cash.

Well that sounds like an idea! I was wondering Luds if you did want to trade any tapes, because from viewing your tapes, I seen that you don't have the Best of Benoit in Japan. Then again, maybe you don't want it!? Anyways, next time I pick up some tapes, I'll ask around and see if I can make a deal!

One other thing, just a couple of questions for some people:
    1) Is there any tape footage of the Hogan-Bret Hart match that happened I believe at a WCW house show? I know the match probably wasn't all it could be, but it would be interesting to see nonetheless.

2)Luds do you only trade puro, or wrestling in general? Because I was going to make a list of all the tapes I have. I have a decent amount of WWF/WCW tapes from the 80s - present. I also have a tape of AAA When Worlds Collide, and some other stuff. I just didn't know if you traded anything else!?

I do have some non puro tapes:
I have a 12 tape comp on Hogan
A 9 tape comp on Bret Hart
    All Starrcades 83 to 2000
    Flair vs. Steamboat comp
Benoit vs. Booker T "Best of 7" series
    Megapowers comp

But I try to focus on puro as that's what I like. But I'd look inti WCW stuff.
