how about this for an idea?

I was thinking to myself the other day on how sometimes it is very difficult to pronounce alot of the puro wrestlers names, and I got to thinking...someone should have (maybe you Hisa ) a puro wrestling dictionary of some sort. You know, have a list of all (if not most) of the wrestler's names and how to properly pronounce them.

Anyone with me, or do I just have too much time on my hands?

A lot easier for Spanish speakers to pronounce Japanese words because each vowel is pronounced as it is. Trying to pronounce the words in English way wouldn't help.

It also takes away from the mystery of puroresu wrestlers. You can't really try to literally translate Japan-English. If you just understand languages (agreed with Hisa, knowing Span does help) then it is easier to read the names yourself. For instance Saito in English would look like <SAY-TOE> right? But it is pronounced <SAI-E-TOE>. It is the same when you read a book and you cannot properly pronounce a word but you still come up with a word in your head that sounds/looks the same even though the actually pronounciation isn't the same. You may have too much time on your hands but at any rate just do your best to pronounce the names. I still have names in my head that don't sound the same when I say them out loud. Read the name: Ryusuke Taguchi. Then try to pronounce it... doesn't sound quite right, does it? When I was a little guy Jumbo Tsruta to me looked like JUMBO STRUT. It's just how you recognize them & remember each name.

Yeah I guess I do have alot of time, but it almost seemed like a good idea. But what I meant to do was just like you said, not SAY-TOE, but the actual pronounciation SAY-E-TOE. Oh well, I tried...

On somewhat of the same note, I tend to have a problem with remembering alot of the mid-carders...I guess I'll just have to read them more

    Later
    Thanks
