I do hope this is a proper post for the this board, but if it isn't I'm sure it'll be moved somewhere. Well, I have been a wrestling fan since about a few months before Pillman died. Yeah, I watched wrestling from time to time when I was younger but never kept up with it. I quickly fell in love with wrestling but it went stale when WCW went under. A lot of the great talent that I enjoyed has gone to waste, thus I stopped watching, plus I got tired of the horrid soap opera stuff and raunchiness that was becoming of RAW. I am watching from time to time now, RAW and TNA that is, but I'm still not satisfied.
I decided to get into puroresu because I am a wrestling fan, not really a sport's entertainment fan, and all I hear is about the greatness that is puroresu, Misawa, Tenzan, Kawada, and so many others. I can honestly say I don't know where to start rather than puroresufan.com, which has a lot of great information, and the American NJPW website. I think I want to start watching NJPW, because if I try to keep up with it all, well, it just will not work.
Pro-Wrestling NOAH and NJPW looks pretty cool, but I'm sure AJPW is great too... but I think I've heard that things aren't looking so ggreat for them. I have found a few places where I can buy tapes, like goldenboytapes.com, japantapes.com, and highspots.com... but I know that will take its toll on my wallet.
I'm wondering about the American, Canadian, and other puroresu fans that are not living in Japan... do you guys just order tapes, keep up online, or what? I mean how do you guys get to watch puroresu and keep up with what's currently going on?
Wow. I didn't think this post would end up being this long; I guess I'm pretty fair at rambling. Oh, I was also wondering how I could get an avatar? Well, I guess that's all I know to say. I just really need some help here guys. Anything would really be appreciated.
I just read up on it and when i hear about a GREAT show, i usually buy the tape or dvd. Thats really the best way. To be honest, when i first saw the name of this post i thought that some arrogant person was on here slamming a new comer and i was going to respond by saying that whether a noob or not, its good to have other fans enjoying puroresu and discussing it in an intelligent manor. As for an avatar, click up in the right hand corner on the part that says private messages. Then on the left hand of that page there is a thing about an avatar. Click it and then choose the avatar you want. Read the FAQ if this doesnt help.

For most, its a combination of both really. For instant results and to keep up with things in real time, there are several sites that cover Puroresu news on a daily basis. However, the joy of being a Puroresu fan is watching the matches, so few are content on just reading about things. I simply buy the bigger events - the PPV's and such. This is where 99% of the major matches take place, so if you get those, you are in good shape. It does get expensive, but that is the price of getting the best wrestling in the world. every cent is worth it to me.
I think it's like 5 or 10 posts, something around that... Ummm... Can't really remember though... With the more post you get, the more av's that appear.
The best way to keep up with puro, is follow online, then order the tapes you feel you want...
Please read the FAQ for the avatars...
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
Best way to follow puro is online, at this very site where people are very friendly. Also at www.puroresufan.com for daily results or www.picksi.com.
As for tapes, well I used to order many tapes as a n00b, but now I mostly trade for them.
For a newbie, I'd recommend seeing classic matches. Basically, you can'
t go wrong with the History of the Triple Crown (All Japan), History of the IWGP Heavyweight Title (New Japan) or any match that between the following wrestlers: Misawa, Kawada, Kobashi, Hansen from All Japan or Fujinami, Choshu, Chono, Mutoh/Muta, Hashimoto from New Japan.
