    puroresu tv listings in english?

    Hello,

I am living in Tokyo for the semester, and would like to catch some wrestling shows on TV. My Japanese reading ability is not so good, so I am looking to find English language listings of scheduled broadcasts.

Any ideas? (other than search-engine searches...I've had zero luck there).

    Best regards,
    W330

What's up? I am living in Tokyo as well.I almost have my Japanese language skills perfected but, my reading isn't that great. I cannot find any puroresu tv listings either. If anybody knows anything about this stuff, please help me!

Thanks for the tip, but the TV listings @ the site Zombie mentioned are not quite what I was on about.

The 'TV listings' from the site list what occured during a particular broadcast,
but none of the details of WHEN the show was/will be broadcast and what channel, so that I may view it.

Imagine a 'TV Guide' style presentation of the information: What day, what channel, what time does the event get broadcast, ne?

Does anyone know if such information exist in english language? If so, where may I find it?

As a last resort, would any of our Japanese language capable board members being willing to translate something of this sort (if culled from websites, TV listings in the paper here in Japan, etc.) ?

I feel as if I am missing a HUGE opportunity to interact with one of my favorite passtimes in the absolute Mecca of the tradition. Imagine you are a Beatles fan, and Paul McCartney shows up @ your job, to meet you during your lunch break...and you were 'out' because you couldn't read the memo that said he was arriving for a visit.

I can't gain reading fluency in 3 months. I'm begging for help here. <onegaishimasu>

I don't know if this would help you or not but you could try here

If there is a webpage for the listings, then that page could try to translate it for you. It can do text as well but unless you know how to type in Japanese, you might not be able to use that part.

Since you are living in Japan, is there not anyone you can ask if the listings come in English? I'm sure there is somewhere but it might be hard to find.

    Good luck.

    Thanks to all...

...who replied. The bablefish was definatley a good look...it totally slipped my mind to try that.

I actually found out about some shows in an unexpected way, and I'll pass the info along here.

There is a steak resturant in Jiyugaoka, about 10 minutes down the road toward Azuba J on the '98' bus...(along the main drag in Meguro-ku). You can't miss it, because thier awning has huge pics of pro wrestlers on it...(the King Kong/Brusier Broady is my favorite <namu butsu>

Long story short, Sat and Sun nights into the early morn, say 11:45pm-2am or so, you can catch NOAH, New Japan, and All-Japan shows on CH 4, 8, and I think 1 (Asahi, NHK?)

I'll let you know this week after trying to catch some TV, if the info I received was correct. 8^)

    Best regards,
    w330
