Mine was Jushin Liger vs. The great muta (10-20-96)
That match was just so cool especially when Muta tore ligers mask off. Then Liger spit the mist at him and then he tore off the rest of his outfit and he had all that war paint on. That match was an epic match. Its better than some wwe matches.
Also one of my favorites is Kenta kobashi vs Jun Akiyama (7-28-94) AJPW
In this match they just beat the crap out of each other. Jun does a bucnh of exploders and Kenta always kicks out. That match was a long one to. I was wondering when i was watching it who would win. Every time I thought that one of them had the pin thr other one kicks out. In the end Kenta Kobashi gave Jun Akiyama a killer clothesline and won the triple crown championship.
Vader's debut against Inoki, hands down. Watching it now brings me so much joy.
Honorable mention goes to Megumi's retirement match against Combat Toyata. That's how garbage should be done.
All Japan put out a comm tape called "Best Singles Match Ever" with a Misawa vs. Kawada match from 94. It was good, but they're blowing smoke calling it the best singles match ever.
Unless you're thinking of Toyoda's Retirement match?
It may be Toyoda's retirement match. I dug out the tape it's on and piece of paper inside lists it as Kudo's retirement retirement match. That's probably wrong though.

Considering you have not purchased a copy of the greatest DVD box set known to man from me, that being Antonio Inoki Complete Fights, and don't strike me as the kind of guy who would have bent over backwards to dish out 800 bucks to preorder one during the brief time it was available, I find it very unlikely that you have seen this match. Furthermore, that box set is the only place where the match exists unedited, so without owning this boxset you could not have really seen the match. Your claim to having seen this match is also interesting considering not even said box set has a match where Inoki steals the WWWF title in 1976. For that matter, I don't think Inoki or Backlund know about this match. Inoki stole the title in question on November 30, 1979. For someone who (incorrectly) claims to be an expert on title histories, that's a rather glaring error.
These are my top 3 personal favorites (no Misawa, Kobashi or Kawada here...is that a sin?).
- Jushin "Thunder" Liger Vs. Ultimo Dragon (Super J-Cup, 12/13/95)
- Great Sasuke Vs. Magnum TOKYO (2/7/99)
- Minoru Tanaka Vs. Takehiro Murahama (4/20/01)
For me, this is an easy one, the GREATEST match of all-time:
Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Genichiro Tenryu-Tenryu wins TC
Great Muta vs. Masa Chono-G1 Climax
Riki Choshu vs. Tatsumi Fujinami-TF wins IWGP-Yokohama Arena
Jushin Lyger vs. Chris Benoit-Sumo Hall
Lyger vs. Sano-Tokyo Dome
Hulk Hogan vs. Stan Hansen-Wrestling Summit
Misawa vs. Kobashi-Anyone of their fights
Inoki vs. Bam Bam Bigelow-BB's debut
Akira Maeda Vs. Tatsumi Fujinami '86
Masa Chono Vs. Keiji Mutoh (dunno the date, early 90s, Mutoh was IWGP champ)
Shinya Hashimoto Vs. Big Van Vader '89
Toshiaki Kawada Vs. Kenta Kobashi (dunno the date either, late 90s)
Jushin Liger Vs. Ultimo Dragon J Cup 95 & some dome show '94
