Chiyo Obata winning WWF (formerly NWA) Women's Title
I have stumbled across the following site:
http://www.wrestlinginformer.net/wwe_women's_championship.htm
With the following info:
Chiyo Obata 1 Early 1976 Tokyo JP / One Fall
The Fabulous Moolah 4 Late 1976 Tokyo JP / One Fall
So, apparently, Moolah lost the Title to Chiyo in EARLY 1976 in Tokyo, then won it back in LATE 1976 in Tokyo again. Can anybody verify this? I have never heard of this.
Now I know Moolah owned the title so she could do what she liked with it, even at this point when it was NWA sanctioned.

The void is that which stands right in the middle of this and that. The void is all inclusive, having no opposite, there is nothing which it excludes or opposes. It is a living void and all forms come from it, and whoever realises the void, is filled with life, power and the love of all things - Bruce Lee, the Tao of Jeet Kune Do
Moolah was billed as "IWWA" (or something like that.. neither NWA nor WWWF) champion and lost the title to Obata. I didn't even know Moolah regained the title and thought it should be considered as a totally different lineage from NWA/WWF title. That's why I didn't include the change in my list.
Well Hisa, that site is slightly unreliable to say the least. I mean they list Rogers as losing the NWA Title to Bobo Brazil, then winning it back. Now he did have a loss then a win against Bobo during his reign, but, as we know, the title never changed hands.
Is it possible we could do a little digging to see if Moolah DID regain the title from Obata? That way at least we could put a footnote in saying that she lost the IWWA version to her, then regained it on 'x' dates...
btw Hisa, did you get those e-mails I sent you? I sent 2 to your jaspella address, is that the right one?

I just checked the site...and simply sighed... One of those sites that list Hackenschmidt as the first champ for RAW World Title.
However, believe or not, Bobo had an unofficial reign as a champ. Check the list on my website.
I got the info from KayfabeMemories Message Board.

I found out that Obata won the IWWA title in November 68, but I haven't found anything on Moolah regaining it. I believe the match took place on Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling Association card right before (or right after) the Matsunaga Bros. left the organizations with a bunch of girls to form AJW.
I think the "76" dates came from the previous (3rd) edition of the WTH but it doesn't say when in 76. It has "76<" for both changes, which means the changes took place "in or before" 76. However, those changes were dropped on the latest (4th) edition maybe because of the Nov 68 info I gave to Gary Will prior to the release of the 4th edition.
I replied to your email. Thanks always for your research and providing the info.
Right, thanks for the information Hisa, much appreciated. Now that's cleared up I can stop worrying about Moolah's reign until the next time
Also, not visited the NWA Title history in a while, nice to see some GREAT work on the early days. Will certainly be looking into some of that. Thanks.
