    Beginning Puroresu...

    Hi Gang,

I'm relatively new to the world of Puroresu, I've watched a little bit. But assuming I no nothing about it, where's a good place to start as an introduction? What shows would worth picking up for a newbie to Puro?

    Cheers,

    Ravyn

There are a few American shows that have Japanese wrestlers in them to kinda work your way into it also. Try early to mid 90's WCW if you can find any videos or anything....Liger,Chono,Muta,Sasaki.... A few names come to mind in ECW but most famously, Barely Legal has the Michinoku Pro guys on it (and the best match on the card!!!) With Pre-steriotypical (sp?) Kaientai. ROH has been getting a few NOAH guys here and there, but if I could make a good suggestion here's a couple of my favs:

Dragon Gate. almost anything they put out is awesome. Highspots has some dvds. and I love K-Ness!!!

Early 90's All Japan. Head dropping at it's best!! and some of the craziest moves I've seen were invented around this time!

2001-2005 All Japan. Also cuz I love Muta/Mutoh and the Shining Wizard really started around then! And Kawada gets the Triple Crown!

mid 90'sNew Japan. More Muta (as the Great Muta) and Chono!!!

early 2000 NOAH. I REALLY enjoy the Juniors in this fed. And they imploy a few gaijin (Forign) wrestlers you might be familiar with!

There is over 70 years of Puro to dig through, but when I started I went for the more significant historical stuff and went from there!

Well, Ravyn, maybe you could tell us a bit about your favourite (American) wrestlers and matches. That could give us an indication about what type of puroresu matches and wrestlers you might be interested in.

By the way, I didn't realise this thread was 7 months old.

Anyway, if anyone is new to puroresu and still needs advice... let me know.

I liked (as stated earlier) 2000-2003 for AJPW and NJPW. I couldn't tell you about specific shows, because I see matches all mixed up lol!
