Kantaro Hoshino passed away earler this week from pneumonia. He was 67 years old.
Hoshino started out in the old JWA promotion in the 1960s. In 1972, he helped form New Japan Pro Wrestling with Antonio Inoki. His in-ring career lasted until 1995. Since then, he became a manager and a promoter for NJPW. Since 2008, he had been in bad health.
This also marks both members of a tag team passed away the same year, as his Yamaha Brothers tag team partner, Kotetsu Yamamoto, passed away earlier this year.
