OK, here is my first post at the Puroresu Dojo even thought I have been reading this site since late '96,and to be honest,it is a question I have posted elsewhere...but here goes;
Why hasn't All Japan reinstated/reactivated the All Asia Heavyweight Title? Now I know that the belt was sold to Kintaro Ohki back in 1980 and he took the belt with him to Korea.When the belt was sold,All Japan already had plenty of titles to still be defended on their tours- they had the NWA World Hvywt Title from time to time along with The NWA International titles(Hvywt,tag team and Jr hvywt),the U.N. heavywt title, as well as the PWF hvywt and later tag team titles along with the AWA heavywt and tag team titles on tours.They actually had too many titles defended.I also know that when the Triple Crown Heavyweight was formed it was because Jumbo Tsuruta went to Baba and told him the very same thing.But now with only one singles Hvywt title(that all the Triple Crown really is),it time to have a "secondary" singles title.
Maybe All Japan hasn't reinstated the title because they don't have the original belt and all the current active title belts are the originals,but it doesn't make any sense that they still have the All Asia Tag Team Title,but not the Heavyweight Title.It would serve as a great stepping stone/developmental title for mid-carders,and it would receive instant respect if fans were reminded that both Rikidozan and Giant Baba held this title.
DOES ANYONE HAVE AN ANSWER ?
Also,does anyone have a picture or know where I can find/see a picture of the All Asia Heavyweight belt?
It would be interesting, but I don't want to see it it back.
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
