    Favorite Gimmic Match

I think this is on the right board. I myself am not a fan of many gimmic matches. I would rather watch two men wrestle a good match. IF these men know what they are doing and how to do it, they don't need a chain, chair, table what have to help get the story over.

However I do understand this is a part of wrestling. My favorite "gimmic" match as I mentioned before is the Royal Rumble. It is a great idea. I always loved battle royals, then when the Royal Rumble came out it just blew me away.

However I am used to the more famous gimmic matches here in the states. Cage, Chain, Bullrope, ladder, something on a pole,
lumberjack (what ever happened to that one?)

What kind of gimmic matches do they use in Japan (or was it mostly FMW that used them. I have most all of the FMW DVDs)
Could someone tell me if New Japan or All-Japan actually use gimmic matches and if they do what type do they use.
And you see me with a smile on my face
And you know I'm a mental case

I have actually read about an indy fed here in the US holding an "AIDS Infected Needle Match" Not really sure how it went down but the loser was the one slammed on the AIDS infected Needles(Paper clips stinking out of the siringe)

(I didnt spell siringe right did I?)

Iron matches are only good if the two can actually wrestle as well as work. That's why the Shawn Michaels v. Bret Hart one stunk. Shawn can't wrestle, he can only bump.
Flair v. Windham were some classics.

Personally I preferred the old NWA style cage match where a pin or submission was the only way to win. I Quit Matches were also a personal fave.
The name of the game is wrestling!

I think the needle match was held in farcical "not actually real wrestling" promotion Incredibly Strange Wrestling, the fed that featured such "classic" characters as The Abortionist and The Great NAMBLA

War Games and the Match Beyond. My all time favorite.

I would like the Royal Rumbles too if every once in a while a long shot would win it all, the Rock and Austin always getting a fairly late draw every year seems "fishy" (I know it's worked)

i dont know about the best but the WORST is the last man standing match.

One guy hits a move and the other recovers just before the 10 count. Repeat 10 times and there is a recipe for boredom.

    My personal favorites.

    1. Wargames (the real wargames, not that 3 story cage BS)
    2. Ironman (WM 12 made me like these, despite what other people say)
    3. Strap/bull rope match (a staple in the NWA)
    4. Bunkhouse Stampede (another NWA classic)
    5. I Quit (Terry Funk vs Ric Flair was the best)

Anyone remember the Anal Bomb death match from FMW :P

My favourite is still the Dumpster match from Wrestlemanie 14, followed by the Tag Team Ladder Match from No Mercy in 1999 (Edge/Christian vs. The Hardyz)

I'm pretty sure that the worst gimmick match was the "cole miner's glove on a pole match" that was used at Havoc for the Sting vs. Snake match.
