Do you mean overated as in was famous and got in alot of main events or overated as people said he was a great wrestler and he was not? Iv not seen enough puroresu to really say anyones overated so its gona be UIS ppl im afriad
For the first one id say Hulk Hogan as he was in pretty much every wwf main event for 7-8 years(then alot of wcw main events for the next 7-8) and didnt have one techincally good match(although 1 or 2 were quite fun to watch).
For the second its got to be HHH, every review of a wwf main event hes in seems be rated as a work of genius. I just dont see what hes got, No workrate , No moves of any type at all other than the pediagree and not even a very interesting personality. Id say the hardy boys a close 2nd they are pretty good but people talk about them like there gods and it anit so.
I don't know why, but I hate the Hardy's..ever since those TLC matches..people have been calling them GODS. How are they gods? for doing a horrible looking Senton off the top of the ladder? I find those TLC matches overrated, since it has NO wrestling at all, just spot after spot.
Since people say they are high flyers...I haven't seen them do any high flying stuff....They don't look "extreme" to me. I wonder if Jeff can perform any type of Suicida? If he fought a guy like Sasuke, he'd be slaughtered in no time.
If the criteria is the guy who was least deserving of the big push he received, I think you have to put Undertaker up there as way overrated. The guy is a lousy worker, doesn't talk very well, and and isn't ever in very good shape.
Austin: He was a great worker. He changed his style, as all top guys seem to do to protect his career. If I were him, and started making millions, I'd change to a simple punch-brawl style too to protect my longevity.
Hogan: No one ever said he was a good worker, but he is the biggest draw in the history of wrestling.
Rock: He is the total package. I don't think you can call him overrated or a bad worker either.

Most of the roster of WWE wrestlers have shown glimpses of talent and even technical ability from time to time
I may be a little forgiving but I'm not entirely convinced that the wrestlers aren't capable of technical matches but are pushed in a different direction by the people in charge
although I would have to say all the wrestlers in the WWE are overrated with an acception to a few truely gifted wrestlers who aren't allowed to show their talents becausse of the WWE style if thats what you would call it
The hype and build up to events and certain matches is what WWE do really well without even thinking that maybe just maybe we wrestling fans (fans of what goes on in the ring not what goes on up until the wrestlers get in the ring) may be interested in watching the matches for the matches not the build up and (predictable) result
The WWE have given so many average performers huge pushes and left talented guys on the sideline
Brock Lesner and Angle have the ability to give us Great matches against any opponent but the likelyhood of that is unfortuntely slim to none
Back to the question at hand and I appolagise for rambling but thats my oppinion
Hogan is definately the most overrated and over pushed wrestler in history (punch, punch, big foot, leg drop, pin, sound familiar)
To be fair I'm the first to admit that I'm a big fan of the WWE but maybe thats because it's the only wrestling I get to see

I think the reasons why Lugar kept coming back was:
(1) he has the look/physique of a warrior (and when he was young, he was hungry and tried to do a couple thing...then he fell into the power trap)
and
(2) he had people like Flair, Steamboat, and Sting to carry him so the casual looker would see him against them and thought he was good-great.
Another person who is overrated as far as wrestling is concerned is "Mr. E-G-O" Rob Van Dam. I will give him credit for being able to hit some eye candy high spots (see Hardy, Jeffrey); however, if he had to wrestle someone, he would be laughed out of the arena.
People are like stars: there are bright ones and then there are dim ones.
Anyone who has ever held the WWF title since Bob Backlund from the 80's not the 2 day reign.Everyone.Especially the rock, hhh, steve austin, and shawn michaels. If anyone one disagrees I'd be happy to argue this one.

Id disagree with you on that. Bret hart was not overated IMHO even tho he was not the best techincal wrestler the world has ever seen he was the best to ever wrestle at the top level in the WWF(at that time anyway). He was always alot closer to flair than beniot if you ask me.
I would argue about Shawn but I just don't have the energy to do it now. And besides I've watched you argue with people before and you refuse to listen to people anyways.......
