The current champs Jun Kasai & Tomoaki Honma couldn't wrestle in the scheduled 3-way defense against Takashi Sasaki & The Winger and GENTARO & Hi69 for WEW Tag Team Title due to Kasai's injury. A 4-team tournament was held, and Sasaki & Winger defeated Kintaro Kanemura & Tetsuhiro Kuroda in the final to become the provisional champions.

Sasaki & Winger are now recognized as the official champions as of 2007/02/19 since Kasai & Honma split and Kasai vacated the title.
