    Ultimo Dragon to WWE?

    From the Ross Report:

"We had a productive meeting with the Ultimate Dragon in Anaheim Monday afternoon. He was an amazing cruiserweight before he was injured while working for WCW in Atlanta and is just beginning to get back in the ring after several years, while he has attempted to recover from a reported blotched arm surgery. He is several months away from being ready to debut in WWE, but we hope to do business with him in 2003. He was a pleasure to speak with and is a class act."

Yanno, I've been thinking that maybe Ross really did talk to Ultimate Dragon and he's only trying to swerve us internet marks, who don't hate enough already, into being really surprsed when Ultimate debuts when we were excepting the legend.

you mean when all of us are expecting UltimO's entrance, we are given UltimATE, and he *really* is UltimATE Dragon who's another guy rather than Mr. Asai himself.

Ross never said no UltimO debut, that's what WE assume.

Ross mentions his WCW past and the arm injury so I think it must be Ultimo.

Did WCW call him Ultimate Dragon? If so in the States that would be the name he would go by.

Plus with WWE losing fans by the second I don't think JR has much to gain by playing these kind of games.

When he first appeared on WCW PPV (actually New Japan Tokyo Dome card) against Liger, he was announced by WCW guys as "Ultimate Dragon". During his WCW runs, however, he was known as Ultimo Dragon.

Just coming out of my memory, so I might be wrong.

They called him Ultimate Dragon for quite awhile, I've got Starrcade 96 on tape and when he defended the J-Crown against Malenko he was still announced as Ultimate Dragon. After the internet crowd constantly reminded them that Ultimate and Ultimo were two different people, they finally changed it sometime in 97. It's also interesting to note that on the Toryumon opening video they have Penzer announcing him as Ultimate Dragon. I was always confused as to why that was on there. If he wanted a v/o from WCW it seems he could have easily gotten one with his name right.

Q_t_r_n, I was being sarcastic with my comment on JR, as everyone around the board can tell you I commonly use sarcasm to point out obvious facts, like in this case that JR really is as stupid as we give him credit for. At yet, at the same time, I can point out that it really wouldn't be beyond Vince to do something like that.

If he does come in, wouldn't it be great if he brought Dragon Kid or Darkness Dragon with him? Am I the only one who dream that Vince would give them 6 minutes with entrances on a PPV, Ultimo and his student look at each other, say screw that, tear the place down for 30 minutes, killing all heat for the * or less matches they typically put on. Eddie, Angle or Benoit may be able to get a little more out of the crowd, but imagine the silence for Undertaker. Dreams of "we want Ultimo" chants dancing in my head...come on, a guy can dream!

And of course, after that happened Vince would immediatly job him out to Crash Holly, Test, Matt Hardy, Justin Credible, Test, Steven Richards, Test a third time and everyone else who isn't over to kill his heat. He'd probably follow it up by having him fued with Funaki, not in the ring, but over who is Smackdown's #1 announcer.

This isn't exactly related, but I read a couple of years ago(summer 2000, I think) that the WWF was seriously scouting CIMA, but I never heard anything else. I would hate to see the Toryumon guys jobbed out to scrubs like Test.

I would think this interest in Ultimo is a direct result of how over Rey is right now. Wonder who else they'll go after.

Speaking of CIMA, where is he now? I haven't seen him in the results for awhile...

He wrestled on the card Ultimo returned on a few weeks ago, in a 6 man match with Fuji and Taru against the T2P Italian gimmick guys. I'm waiting for that tape now. I believe those 3 (C Max) are currently UWA 6 man tag champs.

Seeing Ultimo Dragon wrestle again would be cool, but not in the WWE. They have a bad history of mis-handling their cruiserweights, especially foreigners. They bring Rey in to bolster their cruiser division, yet I haven't seen him in one cruiserweight match. It's like he's too hot to be a cruiser...

Who else would I like to see in the WWE? No one... I'd love to see them wrestling, but not for the WWE.

(By the way, I HATE that they dropped the Jr from Rey's name...)

It's a good match, very intense. I won't tell you who won, but the Italian Connection (Milano Collection AT, Brother YASHIINI, YOSSINO) continues to impress me. And YOSSINO's little gorilla pal has a great quebrada.
    Signature pending.

I think it is extremely tacky for the WWE to call him Ultimate Dragon, its not his wrestling name, and doesnt even translate from his name. In spanis Ultimo means The Last, his name suggests he is the Last Drago not the Ultimate Dragon, its just the WWE thinking they are all the world knows and will believe and listen to what they tell them. I love the WWE(loved them even more when they were the WWF) but they have been making some very bad decisions lately and Im starting to get upset
