    [lucharesu] Wrestler of the 1990s

Please judge by the wrestler's achievement between 1990 and 1999, not by your preference.

Sasuke is a great wrestler but I'll go with Ultimo Dragon also. I have more respect for him and respect is an achievement just as much as belts won and great matches.

I went with Ultimo Dragon as well. He worked well when striking,or using technical wrestling and submissions as well as all his highspots. As a result,he could work well with a wider variety of styles and opponents.

As was stated earlier,Sasuke booked himself to much of his success,...not that is wasn't deserved. But he HAS held the NWA Middleweight Title for some time now and booked himself to to something to like 20 successfull title defenses. This is almost unheard of in Japan as titles are defended much less frequently. If he is really deserving,he'll drop the title to a very deserving youngster.Being selfless will prove his worthyness.

It basically is a toss up between Sasuke and Dragon. They're pretty much equal in terms of what they've achieved, but I always thought Sasuke has had better matches with a wider range of opponents over a longer period of time, so I went with Sasuke even though I love Dragon's work.

In view there really is no choice. Not only was Ultimo, in my opinion, the greater worker, had success booked by someone other than him, held titles in promotions not based in Japan, but also trained some of the best lucharesu workers in the business today. Hands down, Ultimo is the man.

Don't feel bad Scott, most non super sick puroresu marks(i.e. 95% of the people on this forum) make that mistake becasue Dragon had it while in WCW. Just be forwarned, if you ever do it again we will be likely to hunt you down and hang you upside down from your cieling by your toes.

It's sure a shame that Vince broke up the J-Crown. Almost as amazing is thinking that Sasuke jobbed it. I wonder if someone ever put together a tape of Sasuke jobs. That would be something to see. Of course, there probably haven't been enough of them to fill one tape.

Well i voted for Sasuke, then my brain caught up with me... ****.

But seriously, Dragon was the King of Rock. And Sasuke, well, he's a bastard I think. Anyone who won't job is in my eyes. Except maybe if they're as good as, say, Liger and are asked to job to someone as good as, say, Kevin Nash.

Id go with sasuke over unltimo mainly because he was working for more of the 90's. Plus iv seen footage of sasuke as far back as 1990 under the old MASA michinoku gimmick and he was near his 94-96 peak even back then.

I think people are a little over critial of sasuke jobbing, yes hes held that NWA title forever but really even with the NWA name its not that important a title and the people hes faced have generally not been big names. Id say most of sasukes legend has been built up by his work in New Japan anyway which he had no booking control over. In most of the big Mpro competisions iv seen sasuke has generally jobbed in the semi or the final or ealier. If he was the egomaniac most people made him out to be wouldnt he have gotten to the 2000 J Cup final instead of being KO'ed by sano in the second round or won his 10th annerversy match vs hamada?

Compairing Mpro to NJ junior in terms of booking isnt right if you ask me. The jnr division in NJ has never had to carry the company even in its peak years so building up one guy as the companies undefetable ace wasnt really needed. Far closer to the mark is compairing sasukes booking of himself to that of misawa or chono in AJ and NJ respectively. If you look at osaka pro just the same things true with delfin the very man who critized sasuke booking himself as champ for long periods. Is it ego? or just the realisation that its his business on the line so booking the biggest star in the company (himself) as the number 1 guy makes good business sense.

toss up between Ultimo and sasuke, but I go with Dragon. As everyone said, he accomplished more in other feds, has a a more wider range style, etc. etc. I do still love Great Sasuke though, hell, I love Dick Togo as well, but sadly, he didn't accomplish nearly as much as these two.
You love me, you love me not, but you definately respect me!!!!
