    Jinsei Shinzaki

I just downloaded a few Hakushi matches and about that gimmick, I really don't have a full understanding on it, so I was wondering whats the whole background on that gimmick.

Can you rephrase that? I was always under the assumption that he was a sort of monk, or martial artist type guy.

You're right. His gimmick was and still is a Buddhist monk but was never a "dead man alive".

I always liked the Hakushi gimmick in the WWF... the Kanji written all over him was a very cool look. It's just disappointing that they never really did anything with him, other than teaming him with uber-jobber Barry Horowitz.

I remember that incredible dive Hakushi took on Raw against Bret. Really good match.

There were actually two Bret Hart vs. Hakushi matches. One from the first In Your House PPV in May 1995. That one was a little bit disappointing. And there was one on Raw in July 1995. I remember that one being pretty good. But I found the Kanji written all over him to be a bit ridiculous. And his treatment as a jobber is disappointing as well. His career in Japan is a lot more interesting than his unmemorable WWF career.

By the way, his manager in WWF, Shinja was Akio Sato from The Orient Express, right?

Yup, that was Sato. He was also the "Japanese cameraman" who caused Yokozuna's victory during a PPV event...or something like that. Can't remember correctly.

Wasn't that Harvey Whipleman dressed up as a Japanese photographer? That was at WWF King Of The Ring '93 where Yokozuna won the title from Hulk Hogan.
