His dojo show only drew 21 people. That has to be really heartbreaking. If I was in Japan I would've gone to see it for 1000 yen and made it 22 Is that a record for lowest attendance at a wrestling show? I mean, the least I've ever wrestled in front of was at least 200...
Can someone give me some current info on TAKA and what he's doing (running a new fed, right?)? I'm a bit suprised because I thought he was still under contract with the WWF...
Taka is running his dojo training facility out of Puerto Rico. Two of his students, Hi69 (pronounced Hiroki) and Yasu Urano debuted in 2000, working Michinoku, FMW and All-Japan cards.
The TAKA Michinoku reports in Japanese magazines, as reported in the last few weeks, were actually plants done by TAKA himself. For his own wrestling promotion, TAKA did an angle with himself to which he re-signed a deal with the WWF to probably draw some heat. With TAKA, he told the WWF that he preferred to be close to his family, and it wasn't the WWF who decided not to re-sign TAKA. TAKA let his contract run out so that he could return to Japan and start his own promotion.
That's funny, I thought JR said awhile ago in one of Ross Reports that the WWF had no interest in resigning Taka or Funaki Either way, I'm glad to hear Taka will be staying in Japan, where he belongs. I wouldn't mind seeing him work the NWA or Ring of Honor, but he was just being wasted in the WWF.
:( My favorite non-masked Japanese style luchadore is in distress...
Sigh...
I hated the way he was treated in the WWF after he rejoined with his former allies, Dick Togo; Funaki, Shoichi; and MENS Teiou;
What happened to Shiryu? He could've been there as Kazu Hayashi. TAKA, having a stint as Kaientai, he and his former group members were forced to wrestle heavyweights too much making them job to them. >_<
Believe it or not but I really wanted him to oWn HHH and win the title belt so everyone who's close to him so he can say, "Yuushou!" If only, Shiryu was there, things could've been more different. However, ECW treated him better then WWF
when he was there. Even yet, he could use the Michinoku Driver II Beta which is one of my favorite wrestling techniques in pro-wrestling. Anyways, I hope to visit Japan and maybe meet TAKA in person. Ganbare, TAKA-sama...
