    CIMA's look

    Reminds me a lot of the character "Kuro" from Taiyo Matsumoto's manga "Tekkonkinkurito" ("Black and White" in english, published by Viz.). Anyone know whether there's any link?

    that does looks like CIMA, he has the scar, the goggles, and everything else!

    I wonder if SUWA is based on an anime character?

    The "Kuro" character doesn't do the crazy ****ing dance, but beside that he's every bit as bad as CIMA... and probably even worse.
    I've been told that this look may have been inspired by japanese rock group The Boredoms, but as I've never seen them I've no idea if it's true or not.

    If CIMA's really based on an anime character then there could be an anime/manga <->puroresu connection, don't you say?

    Tiger Mask => Tiger Ma

    To continue my post reply...

    There seems to be an anime/manga and puroresu connection...

    Blizzard YUKI = Wrestle Angels
    Jyushin Thunder Lyger = Jyushin Fire Lyger and Jyushin Thunder Lyger from the Jyushin Lyger (Nagoya TV) anime itself.
    Monkey Magic Wakita = Gokuu from Monkey Magic (TV Tokyo)
    Spel Delfin's Mobile Suit Gundam Costume = Some Gundam from the long running anime series itself (TV Asahi).
    Shiryu [Master Dragon] = Dragon Shiryu from Saint Seiya (TV Tokyo)
    Tiger Mask I, II, III, IV = Tiger Mask (TV Asahi?)

    The original Tiger Mask series that ran in the 60s was on Nippon TV. "Tiger Mask II" from the early 80s was on TV Asahi. That was when New Japan, whose weekly show was on Asahi, started using the Tiger Mask gimmick. When Misawa was Tiger Mask in All Japan, he used the theme song of the original series as his entrance music.
