1.Reiko Amano def. Ran YuYu. After the match, Ran YuYu announced she would work the JWP 10th anniversary show on Nov. 3 and join GAEA on Nov. 4. I expect this will be JWP's last show.
If this is indeed the case,it will be a sad ending to the promotion many thought would easily become the munber one joshi promotion in Japan after the "Zenjyo Split" in 1997 and with all the talent JWp had at the time.
Of course, many things contributed to the demise of JWP;the death of Plum Mariko, the retirement of Cutie Suzuki, the retirement of Hiromi Yagi(she did return to joshi, but as a freelancer and to my knowledge, she never returned to JWP),the retirement of Hikari Fukuoka, and of course, the departure of Mayumi Ozaki, and eventually the departures of Dynamite Kansai and Devil Masami. It is a wonder they were able to stay afloat this long. Some young talent stayed as long as they could, aother even freelance returning to JWP whenever they ran a show, such as Tomoko Kuzumi(Azumi Hyuga).
In their prime, this promotion was one of the most exciting to watch. It just seems like such an undeserving end to a company that was so no nonsene and had so much history in just ten years and even more before their own split in 1992 into LLPW and JWP.
I'm pleasantly surprised by these results. I had thought that Ito would hold the belt for a long time. Momoe Nakanishi is about 22 years old it will be interesting how she does. I like the team of Meiko Satomura and Ayako Hamada but they may be only transitional champions. I hope I'm wrong. I love the idea of Akino wearing the All Pacific title. Does anyone know how many people these shows drew head to head?
AJW-just under 2,700 fans which has to be a disappointment
GAEA Japan-5,000,which I'm sure this had to do with not only was Manami Toyota on the show and in the main even, but was also challenging for the AAAW Title-which of course, she won.
This actually sounds like the best GAEA Japan show in some time.I'm not much of a fan of KAORU(even though she is a hot-bod) but with the other three in the match being her partner Ozaki and the other team of Satomura and Hamada, this could have been a great match if they let them show their stuff. Toyota vs Nagashima could have been fabulous also.Maybe now they'll book their titles like being a champion is supposed to mean something,...HOPEFULLY.GAEA has had a problem with not treating their titles with respect.Because of this(and other bad booking) I'm not a fan of GAEA Japan even though I'm a fan of many of their workers(Ozaki,Satomura,Nagashima,Aja,and Hamada in paticular),but this shows sounds like it might be a must have.
I was not surprised but glad to see Momoe win the belt. It's been very clear especially since Manami left that Momoe is the future of AJW. It's the right move because she's still young, has a lot of charisma and is a great wrestler. I expect Ayako & Meiko are going to lose to the Crush Girls next month. I don't like it but would not be surprised by that.
It's going to be fun to see what they do with her. Momoe is so young and has a small build which is perfect for the underdog champion winning with guts storyline. I just thought they would leave it on Ito for the rest of this year and the beginning of next year. She's been around and is a great worker plus she just got it off of Toyota less than 4 months ago. As far as Ayako Hamada and Meiko Satomura is concerned your probably right but I can hope.
I'm not that sure about CRUSH 2000 retaking the tag belts.
Not that I have any misplaced faith in any newfound generosity on their part , but it seems probable from the Mega Ride show that ASUKA will make a heel-turn and split the team before they can get their hands on the belt. ASUKA joined up with Devil, Aja and Manami (who was in full heel mode all evening, refusing to enter the ring despite the ref's injunctions and masking Nagashima's entrance) to celebrate her victory. At the same time, the other GAEA girls came out to comfort Nagashima, who apologised for not being able to keep the championship belt out of Manami's zenjo clutches. It looks like we may well be headed for yet another heel-invader group taking on Chigusa's faithful flock. Also, if ASUKA is going to wrestle big time outside GAEA soon, it would make sense for her to go heel all the way.
I can't say I like the idea the idea of Toyota as just another GAEA invader, even if it was predictable. I'd rather see her fight some of the current heels (Aja, Ozaki...) than go over the young wrestlers and eventually get fed to Chigusa, GAEA's holy defender. Ah well...
A friend of mine was at the show and really enjoyed it. I can try and get him to upload some of the photos he took, if anyone is interested. He also got some of AJW's 15/10 Korakuen Hall show.
Otherwise, Leonardo Spanky did the Titanic pose on the turnbuckle with Sakura (the highlight of a pretty poor match), and Policeman was removed by security during the Satomura/Hamada vs D-Fix match. Lioness bled a gusher against LCO. Toyota certainly had an effect on the show's attendance as she apparently garnered a lot of support.
What do you think is up next for Momoe as champion?
A feud with Itoh or Hotta? Or facing off an outside threat from ARSION, headed by noki-A or Lioness ASUKA?
It seems to me like GAEA has abandoned the GAEA-ism vs Zenjo-ism angle in favour of an old vs young angle. This is why I think the Crush Girls will win the tag belts. We all know how selfish those two are. I don't like the angle. It's the wrong approach. If you don't elevate young talent, you are doomed to fail. Maybe they'll smarten up.
Since the AJW-ARSION merger is going to continue, I'd like to see Momoe vs Ohmukai. That would be very interesting.
